Tom Huddlestone looks sure to leave White Hart Lane either this month or in the summer as a lot of premier clubs line up to sign the midfielder including Everton, Fulham, Sunderland, Villa, Reading and Southampton, a fee of around 7M will persuade tottenham to let him go.

There seems to be three key areas here. Goalkeeper, CB & Attacking mid/winger.
Butland has gone quiet, don't see that one happening now. Ter Stegen would be sensational but I somehow just can't see us pulling that one off. NC & NA have poured water on a keeper signing? Maybe a bit of game playing? We'll see.
CB. The key area. If we sign nobody I am probably in the minority in thinking that won't neccessarily be curtains but it will be a dogfight for sure. One of Astori or Douglas should strengthen us enough. Both and we will stay up comfortably as we are so good in other areas.
Further forward. Buckley seems to now be a no no. Coutinho would be an amazing coup like ter Stegen and we would have a seriously lively front line should he join.
In dreamland, were we to land, ter Stegen, Astori, Douglas and Coutinho we would be knocking on the door of the top half. Two or three of these would still be massive. My gut feeling is that we'll land one biggy (probably Astori) as we did in the summer( Gaston). Could be some serious money being spent at St Mary's coming up though. COYS!

Generally I have been disappointed in Corteses transfer dealings. Good targets are not pursued and we spend far to long on complicated deals. I think an absolute must is CH and GK or we will go down. None of the Goalies this year has inspired any confidence. For me Ter Stegan would be a great signing and should make main target. For me we needed a CH before Fonte's injury and now is desperate, anyone else fancy Yoshida and Hooiveld at Villa on Saturday? Then that pair against Chelsea, Everton and Man U?

We could have got Forren and had deal completed this week but that wouldnt make a headline that Cortese is seeking. Also hear Adam may be out for some time so another left sided attacking midfield player will be important, would prefer Dorren to Coutinho as would have an instant impact, afraid we dont have the luxury of someone getting used to the league. Would also like Graham as another stirker option, down now to Rickie, Rodrigues and Lee for next month, bit thin.

Southampton are very close to agreeing a deal for Douglas from FC Twente for around 5 mil. Also rumoured is ter stegen from Borussia Monchengladbach for around 6 mil + Boruc

I reckon If we get Douglas it will be for less than 5 mill, anyone can get him tied down now for next season for free, can't see anyone paying 5 mill

I am living here in Germany and Ter Stegs won't be going to Southampton. There is 0% chance thats going to happen. He has stated he needs to stay in Germany for the short future.
Im a saints fan by the way and im not german either

Douglas will probably go for less than 5 million. His contract runs out very soon and Twente otherwise may loose him for free. 3 million would almost definitely be accepted.

Douglas is a complicated transfer because 3 parties including Douglas get a slice of the transfer fee which leaves Twente with a tiny fee. If he and others are prepared to compromise then maybe it'll happen, but certainly not for 5 million.

Southampton are very much having talks with Hungarian centre back Roland Juhász from Belgian champions Anderlect
Although 29 he brings alot of experience and could be what saints need to fill the whole in defence.

Graham Dorrans has been offered a contract by Southampton after they had a £3.8m bid accepted, the club are looking to boss midfield options, Dorrans if he wants to move to the south coast but the contract, as usual, is a lucrative one!

Southampton made a bid (unknown) for Bologna danish df Sorensen, according to Sky Italy. Bologna already turned down

Having checked this guy out he is co-owned by Juventus (which means complicated!) he signed a 4-year deal with Juventus and then in 2011 was sold as co-owned entity to Bologna for 2.5m Euros....
He looks good at 20 years old, 6'4 and has made over 30 combined appearances for both clubs... Just the sort of player that NC goes for! :-)

Has potential to happen. I imagine he'd be a perfect complement to the signing of Astori. However it may unsettle a few players like Hooiveld, Martin and Seaborne as the competition would be too fierce for them to get the slightest look in.

Have said before that Ter Stegs would be a great signing, for me better than Astori so make him an offer he cant refuse.

Amazing how complicated transfers are now with players being "part owned" by other clubs, may partly explain why takes so long to complete a deal.

Just sign a couple of centre halfs please and asap. Fonte out for aorund 6 weeks and then add in another couple to get back to full fitness and can see why 2 players are needed.

Dorrens for me would be a good buy if not just a rumour, Adam took a long time last year to get back up to speed when he came back from injury

The Brazilian centre back 'Dede' has apparently been linked with a move to Southampton after his cash strapped club have said they are needing to offload the player and he stated he'd like a move to the Premiership."

Southampton are in talks with FC Twente over a move for Douglas. Available at a bargain price of 3.5m euros as his contract ends in the summer.

Saints are hopeful that they can sign him in time for the Chelsea match next week.

Saints are also still in for Astori. The player's agent is in England discussing Saints offer however he also stated that Astori's dream is to join Milan, however he conceded that there is no bid from Milan, who would want to sell Abate before signing any more defenders.

There is nothing in the Coutinho rumours, The only genuine interest was from Villa and Coutinho isn't interested.

Adkins still wants a left winger and another Defensive midfielder, as Adkins is worried that the midfield is too lightweight when Cork is not playing there.

Sadly, NA is serious when he said there would be no new 'keeper in Jan. Butland thing is agent talk and Saints haven't made contact over a move since the summer.

In addition to those going in there are some outs

Dickson on loan to Bradford and the club are also in discussions with Derby over JWP possibly being loaned out for the remainder of the season to gain some experience.

De Ridder could be on his way out to Heerenveen for 1m.

£1m for De Ridder???? Would be a brilliant piece of business regardless what we paid for him.

Shame about the goalie front if true as none have really impressed this season and will be a major handicap to staying up, Douglas and astori would however make me pretty happy.

Sky has reported that they believe Uruguayan Sebastian Fernandez is due to move to England this transfer window. They've reported Brighton major interest, Norwich and ourselves. They 'understand' that Gastón has recommended Fernandez to our lot and that we could be interested. His UK agent has also said he's been in discussions with clubs, and they reckon that it would be a loan move with a permanent transfer during summer from Malaga. What we thinking? Not sure what to make of it, people putting two and two together with Ramirez or genuine interest?

juan forlin, the argentine centre half that plays for espanyol is being flown over to southampton next week and is expected to sighn a four year deal, he is 25 and played over a hundred and fifty games foe espanyol since mauricio pochettino signed him from newel old boys at the start of his espanyol reighn, and sees him as a relyable everpresent in the back line and the much needed steal that has been missing from the heart of the southampton deafence, he has only 6 months left on his current contract and espanyol could cash in on him now rather than loose him for nothing when the season ends

Mauricio Pochettino is looking to raid former club Espanyol to add experience to Southampton. Also because RCD Espanyol are deep in financial trouble so he knows he can get the players on the cheap.

Deal for Phillippe Coutinho could be completed soon. Southampton have had an offer of around €9.5million (around £8million) accepted according to reports in Italy. The offer from liverpool of €8million (£6.7million) was rejected yesterday so Southampton stepped up the bid to secure his signature to avoid loosing out on the young starlet. This would be the second signing of the Pochettino era.

We could also see Bologna central defender Frederik Sorensen join before the window shuts. Pochettino values young talent and sees the young Centre back as a good potential partner to Forren.

Rumours say coutinho will prefer a move to liverpool but mauricio pocchetino has put a 6.5million bid in for Real Madrid's CF Jose Callejon Jose Mourinho said if a bid comes in for him he will let the spainard go.
Surplus to requirements at Madrid and Mourinho and Pochettino are good friends so I could see this happening. He would fit right in on either of the wings at Southampton. This is exactly the kind of quality we need if we're to not only stay up this season, but to seriously compete next.

According to an article on the tv website, Southampton are close to agreeing deals with two players and another 1 or 2 are not far behind.
One is Bradford striker Nahki Wells, who has been watched all season and impressed scouts. He is out of contract in the Summer having opted not to extend his deal with Bradford.
The other is Japanese international Keisuke Honda who's contract with CSKA Moscow expires in the Summer who is available at a knockdown 4m price as his contract ends at the end of the year and he has indicated that he has no intention of signing a new deal.
Ramirez OTOH, could well go back to Italy as the coaching staff and MP do not think he will ever adjust to the PL style. Fiorentina and Milan are interested, however Cortese will accept nothing less than what we paid for him.
Astori deal is still on, the player agreed to stay at Cagliari until the summer under the condition he was allowed to leave at the end of the season and he is keen to play in the Premier League.
In addition to, who will cost around £8m, Wells (Seen as one for the future) & Honda, expect big money to be spent on another CM, another Winger and a CF. Also expect cover to be brought in at RB/Lb & GK.
40m budget plus whatever we get from sales for Pochettino.

Two rumours that seem to have a bit of substance to them is that of Lorenzo Insigne (Forward) of Napoli and Keisuke Honda (Midfielder) of CSKA.
Personally I'd be thrilled if we bought that sort of quality in. Though I'd rather we focused on supporting our defensive frailties first.

Southampton FC are looking at a number of transfer targets. They will try and sign 5-6 players this summer, these being, Jesus Gamez from Malaga, Davide Astori from Cagliari, Victor Wanyama from Celtic, Erik Lamela from Roma, Adrian from Athletico or Lukaku from Chelsea.

I think Hooper would be a good buy as he has held out signing a contract extension so if we could get him for £5 -6M would be a good deal and think he would work well with JRod for years.

Really don't know much about most of the others being proposed but don't think we need to spend a fortune on a centre half, several out there.

Yes it was but a somewhat foolish one which could have put him in a bad light. He may have been trying to get his career sorted though so who knows why he did it? Maybe we will learn the truth later.
