All interesting stuff, likely to be a bidding war for Maynard and Sharpe with some premiership clubs involved so simply dont see saints getting involved. Plus if Sharpe turned us down previously suspect Cortese will take some persuading. Of course we dont know how much the Liebherr Trustees will allow saints to spend.

Interesting that local non league player Jason Prior from Bognor who was due to sign for Eastleigh has a trial at Newcastle, how come we havent at least given a trial when so short of strikers?

Rumours coming out of St.Mary's suggest that Southampton aren't interested in bringing either Sharp or Maynard to the South Coast.
Sordell, Emnes and Ebanks-Blake are their top 3 targets, with Jutkiewicz already a guaranteed signing.

Sordell didnt impress at St Marys, Emnes will go to premiership if he moves and think Wolves will keep Ebanks- blake as dont have big squad and may have pressure to sell Fletcher. Watch Mboro for Jutkie, he is one for the future but we need some pace up front.

Coventry look set to sell Jutkiewicz to Southampton for £1.5 million.
Coventry owners wanted to keep the highly rated forward but are being forced to sell because fans' boycotts are thought to be costing the club money.
Although fans' boycotts haven't cost the club a significant sum yet, owners SISU have projected the boycott costs forwart to the end of the season and fear a large drop in revenue.

Southampton are set to sign Fulhams young hotshot Marcelo trotta on a short term loan deal in january. Trotta is currently on loan at wycombe where he has scored 6 goals in the last 4 games. As part of the agreement which saw Chamberlain join Arsenal in the summer, Benik Afobe and Ignasi Miquel will join Southampton on loan for the rest of the season.

Tadanari Lee has travelled to Southampton to sign a contract on Thursday. Also on that day Jason Puncheon will hold talks with Nigel Adkins about his future, if it's decided he has no future at the Saints he will be offered to Blackpool with £1million for Matty Phillips. Lukas Jutkiewzc will also join sooner rather then later after Rickie Lambert's suspension thanks to the cheating of Brighton and Adam El-Abd. Saints are aslo looking to sign a goal-scoring central midfielder as cover for the injured Richard Chaplow. Liam Fontaine is still wanted by Saints to provide cover for Jos Hooiveld.

Think everyone got on the Tadanari LLee one based on press coverage from Japan that even Cortese couldnt stop hence seems fairly credible, think main issue will be work permit and until that is sorted wont hear from club.

Think most of others off the mark, if we sign Lee do not expect another striker. Kris Kommons would be good if fit, keep saying Maynard will end up at a premiership club.

Southampton still want another striker despite being close to signing Tadanari Lee. Coventry's Jutkiewicz is an option but Nicky Maynard is top of their wanted list.
Southampton received their final instalment from Arsenal from the Oxlade-Chamberlain deal (yes, it was paid in instalments, that is how most "up front" fees are paid) and are ready to reinvest during January.
Saints are hardly short of cash but the conclusion of the Oxlade-Chamberlain deal means they have plenty to spend.
