Re: JANUARY TRANSFERS
6 weeks to go roughly and I am wondering whether we have seen anyone that could be a useful loan.
Re: JANUARY TRANSFERS
Having seen the scaremongering on SaintsWeb and in a couple of papers I am not so sure. If these people are to be believed the banks will not allow us to go further into debt. That being the case what the hell are we going to do. Do we go into administration and face the inevitable point loss? Or do we fight on and then do it late enough not to have the points deducted this term. Or do we simply wait for someone else to force the issue.
Wilde was saying only last month that we were hanging in there. Who are we to believe. I know that this is my team and as long as there is life in these old bones it will remain so. However we come once again to the lack of information yet again causing us concern. Is there any hope for a last minute buyer to appear riding his large white stallion? Or will we simply wake up and find out hat the deed has been done?

Saw this on another site this morning:
Lowe: Players may not be sold in January By Ernest Hack
Posted on Monday 08 Dec 2008 08:17:00
There has been much speculation in the national press recently as to which Saints players will be leaving St Mary’s, which Premiership clubs they will be going to, and how much money Southampton will make from the deals. Rupert Lowe, however, has spoken out with the message that despite the club’s financial position, it is possible that no-one will be leaving the club in January.
“These stories have usually been placed by someone who has a vested interest in seeing it put there. I guess if someone thinks we’re going to be forced to sell players then it may be someone who covets Andrew Surman or Adam Lallana, who I think were both mentioned in the papers this week. Perhaps it’s a Premier League club who’d like to buy one of them, who would like to undermine us and make our position more difficult,” he told the club’s official site.
“Our intention is to sell as few players as possible, if any,” he added, suggesting that there is still the possibility that no-one will leave the club. However, this is only if no decent offers come through.
“We will look at it all in January though. We don’t make silly statements about what will or won’t happen.”
And rightly so. He can hardly say that we’ll sell no matter what. A little bit of playing hard to get is necessary at this stage, but by warning a few clubs off from their frankly insulting rumoured bids of £1m for England Under-21 stars Surman or Lallana, he might even allow the players to focus on the matter in hand. And this is exactly what Surman intends to do.
“I’m enjoying playing for this team. I love Southampton and I’m very happy to be playing here, so as far as I’m concerned any talk of a move is just rumours,” he also told the official site.
“We might have to sell players in January but we’ll just have to wait and see. There’s a lot of football to be played between now and then, so as far as I’m concerned I just want to get my head down and keep playing well for Southampton.”
This is surely good news for all associated with the club, not just that our star players may not be leaving, but also that if they do then at least we’ll get a decent fee for them.
Or is this just spin from the twisted Darth Lowe?

Re: JANUARY TRANSFERS
Gasmi has just begun playing and to be truthful has looked awful. Pekhart has gone. We need a strong no messing stopper. A midfield player with some muscle. A striker that can actually use a bit of muscle and score.
Re: JANUARY TRANSFERS
xmas wish list ..........A striker that can score
midfield genral real hard man
and also a ball player someone who can turn a game with a pass
some lady luck too ( have you ever noticed how often a 50/50 ball always goes to the other side )

Re: JANUARY TRANSFERS
50/50 balls are only that if two players go into a tackle with equal endeavour. Our boys have a tendency to back off if the opponent appears threatening.
Re: JANUARY TRANSFERS
Just seen on Sky that we can keep Pearce till January 30th.
Now Cork with a bit of luck.

Re: JANUARY TRANSFERS
Saga should get that on 2nd Jan.
Pearce is a blow.
Davies snapped up by Forest so thats one less manager to choose from.

Very annoyed about Pearce. Cheers Coppell.
And what's all this crap I've seen about international clearance for Saganowski? He is a Saints player and what's more he's Polish and Poland are in the EU. He shouldn't need 'international clearance'!

Re: JANUARY TRANSFERS
So we have now got Ryan Smith on a six month free.
Lee Molyneux comes here on a 2.5 year contract. He is from Everton and is a pacy left back. Could he play against Utd.
