Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
Are Ward and Seaborne purely central defenders or do they play at full-back too?
I see that, according to the Exeter website, Seaborne has only played 17 games for them, doesn't seem a lot.

Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
SSN is saying we have signed Elliott Ward on an eighteen month contract. Not yet on OS
Also , from another source someone who actually was in coventry tonight had this to say on SW
I was at the Ricoh this evening as a guest of clients - just back from a late curry. The people at Coventry are all saying that the deal is done and there are just one or two minor contractual issues to sort out and that as of this evening he is as good as a Saints player. They are absolutely gutted - make no mistake. They rate him very highly.

Looks like he's made 96 appearances since he joined them in 2006, must be 17 games this season I think.

I think that you will find he was the captain when they got promoted back into the football league.

Fonte, Seaborne, Jaidi and Parry (note no Thomas). Of course as seaborne can play left side possible play games at LB and move Harding to midfield
Colleague at work who is Exeter fan says seaborne is a good player plus Tisdale often tinkered wth team so played in a number of positions.

Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
On Coventry website...
ELLIOTT Ward’s move to Southampton collapsed at the last minute after Saints signed up-and-coming Exeter skipper Danny Seaborne.
The Coventry City defender had agreed an 18-month contract and was all set to sign at St Mary’s Stadium yesterday until the League One club pulled the plug on the deal.
The Sky Blues were processing the paperwork to release the 24-year-old, who is one of the club’s highest earners, on a free transfer when they received a call to say the deal was off.
And it appears that hot on the heels of signing centre-back Jose Fonte from Crystal Palace, Saints’ boss Alan Pardew suddenly switched his attention to 22-year-old Seaborne who started out in non-league football.
He is clearly the cheaper option given that he wouldn’t command wages as high as Ward who has Premier League experience and more than 130 Championship games under his belt.

Right Back signs....
http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1931958,00.html
From Norwich website:
Norwich City defender Jon Otsemobor has joined League One rivals Southampton on a free transfer.
The 26-year-old right-back, whose Carrow Road contract was due to expire at the end of this season, has signed for the Saints on a permanent basis.
Otsemobor was signed by former City boss Peter Grant in the summer of 2007 on a free transfer from Crewe Alexandra after beginning his career with Premier League club Liverpool.
He made four first team appearances for the Reds. He also had loan spells at Hull City, Bolton Wanderers and Rotherham United before settling under the guidance of Dario Gradi at Crewe.
In total, Otsemobor made 104 appearances for the Canaries, scoring twice.
He has lost his place to new signing Russell Martin in recent weeks.
City boss Paul Lambert told the club's official website: “Jon did really well for me and he moves on with our best wishes. Good luck to him.”
Otsemobor becomes the third defender signed by Southampton this week after the capture of Jose Fonte, from Crystal Palace, and Dan Seaborne, from Exeter.
And another Norwich website.....
A Bit of a shock, the news that Jon Otsemobor has joined League One rivals Southampton. His contract was due to expire at the end of this season, has signed for the Saints on a permanent basis on a freebie. Otsemobor has been with us since the summer of 2007, he was regular choice for the full back position until the arrival of Russell Martin.
Some what a frustrating player, has a blistering pace, loved to get forward, somehow that was lost somewhere along with confidence between the different managers he played under in his sort time here, seemed half scared to venture over the half way line.
Perhaps the time was right for a fresh challenge and change of scenery, we can only say thanks for your efforts in the Yellow and Green and wish you well in your new club, along as itisn't at our expense.

Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
Any more to come I wonder?
Midfielder would be nice and another decent striker to give Lambert a rest. And a winger........
Sorry Saints if I'm asking too much.

Not sure how good Otsemobor is but its a free transfer and six-month contract so nothing to complain about. Hopefully he can be a right back version of Dan Harding.

Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
Otsemobor - not a bad signing, especially on a free transfer and a six month contract, so no money wasted if he really is as crap as the Norwich fans say (somehow I doubt it, I think he might just need a change as everyone does from time to time).
Now for a midfielder and a striker and we're set.

Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
We needed cover at RB and doubt if Otsemobor is worse than James at defending and if he does overlap and get forward give us some more options.
Disappointed at Ward as think he would have been a good signing if fit and surprised we pulled out at such a late stage.
A midfield player and striker, Barnard please as think he and Lambert will be letha, would not only mean wel placed to push for the Play Offs but would also mean well set for next season.

I to would like to see us sign Barnard & a decent central midfield player,I think we would then be nailed on to grab sixth place and get up via the playoffs this season.

According to the Echo Saints are after Kevin Lisbie from Ipswich and Lee Barnard from Southend. Can't think we'll take 2 strikers.

Re: JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
On a Southend website:
Southend have released an official statement stating that no offer has been accepted by the club for top scorer Lee Barnard.
Lee Barnard is still a Shrimper; until someone puts in a decent offer, possibily
It's been a busy morning on the transfer rumour mill regarding Blues striker Lee Barnard and the club has now officially got into the act by confirming that three clubs have shown interest in the good Lord. (Southampton, Leeds and Millwall?)
However, "no offer has currently been accepted by the football club".
Adding; "We fully expect Lee to be in the starting line-up for Saturday's game against Wycombe Wanferers."
They add; "at the moment."
