Re: New Signing
With height ,athleticism, strength and some good experience with Oldham he could do well for us. I am left wondering whether we could end up buying him if he is any good.
Re: New Signing
It is official now so now we have to see whether he will be allowed to dive in at the deep end.

Re: New Signing
Hope not. He doesn't deserve to be in our team at the moment. He scores to many and that would upset our moaning supporters of which we have a few.
Re: New Signing
Have just read APs comments on the scouting structure at the club and no wonder we have been behind in siging players, anoyther legacy from RL destroying the infrastructure that a Football club needs to operate. At least he now has a scouting system in place and limit to UK recognises where we are today. Long road back to where we used to be but glad to see the foundations are being put in place. Will be there this afternoon and feel reasonably confident, as best you can after what we have been through, that will see a win today.

Re: New Signing
It brings home how far we have fallen. No management, no scouting structure and no team. At least now we have a better scouting structure in place and it appears that we now have the management to steer us in the right way. The team is being improved and once we have seen this winter through I fully expect us to be as good as any other team. Roll on next season when I hopw to see full houses cheering the team on the way back to the CCC.

What worries me most is that the way things are going we might be spending next season hoping the team can get back up to League One. Unless they start winning soon, they are going to have to fight hard to avoid another relegation. It could easily be that we go down to League 2 while Bournemouth go up to League 1. I can't remember ever having been in a lower division than Bournemouth!!! :x

Re: New Signing
According to various posts on the other site he was at the game tonight so presumably he will be signing very soon.
Pardew has confirmed on OS that we've accepted 2 bids from English clubs for Rasiak.
Also we've been linked with a loan move for Max Gradel (Leicester) who is a quick winger with a colourful haircut.

Re: New Signing
According to the Echo, Pardew is looking at a possible 3 new signings (and 1 out) before the 5pm deadline this afternoon.....................
Alan Pardew confident of making last day signings for Southampton
8:31am Tuesday 1st September 2009
ALAN PARDEW’S Saints squad will finally be settled tonight after what is expected to be a busy transfer deadline day with a possible three new arrivals at St Mary’s.
When the window closes this evening, there is also likely to have been at least one big name departure.
Pardew is starting the day aiming for a striker, a wide player and to tie up a deal for Tunisian centre half Radhi Jaidi.
There has been uncertainty over the futures Marek Saganowski and Morgan Schneiderlin, who are both being urged to move to a higher level to protect their international careers however at this stage it is likely that only the Pole will leave, possibly on loan.
Pardew said: “We’re using our contacts to try and bring in a striker – I feel we’re a bit light in that area – and maybe a wide player, too.
“We’re also looking at finally securing the services of Radhi Jaidi.
“We are looking internationally as well as at home.”
Saints cannot be sure how things will go today. There is expected to be a huge amount of business throughout football and deals that may or may not happen could lead to bids for Saints stars or free up others to move to the south coast.
Pardew will at least be encouraged that once the day is out he will have a settled squad to work with, albeit there is still a chance for business to be done through the emergency loan window.
Jaidi has never dropped off the Saints radar since a deal for the Tunisian centre-half was put on hold due to the possible trouble they faced securing his work permit.
As Jaidi is out of contract he can be signed outside the window, meaning his signing does not have to be done today but Saints would prefer it that way.

Re: New Signing
The Northern Echo are still linking us with striker Roy O'Donnovan. Meanwhile the South Devon Herald Express say Torquay are going to sign Michael Poke on loan again.

Re: New Signing
Absolutely nothing other that Meridian indicated a deal could still be done on Saganoski going, Boro or Notts County!
Really disappointed at the inability of the club to get at least a striker or winger in, the striker Dept is desperately short and if anything happens to Lambert where will we get any goals. Sure AP tried but club need to show they mean business and lack of investment in people who score goals will hurt. Not least in Div 1 TV money is poor so reliance on crowds which so far have been good but results and goals are needed if that isnt to start falling quickly.
Think emergency loan deals can take place from next week (Very confusing) and Jaidi can sign anytime as no club, but you wonder why not done.
Would be nice if OS gave the fans a bit more information but then pigs might fly!

LATEST Official Saints Twitter
"How's this to get tongues wagging - we are still hard at work at St Marys finalising a deal. Unlikely to be announced until tomorrow."
Can only be Jaidi, surely?

Re: New Signing
The mental people on the other site are really doing my head in today. It's true we could do with a right winger and a pacy striker (as well as Jaidi) but there are so many options available to us either in free transfers or on loan that we don't need to spend loads of money. Most teams in League 1 are built around free transfers and loans, and having already signed 4 players who are very good at this level and got 2 in on loan who are very promising I'm not really sure what more people want. AP is building a team step by step and he could do with some support from the armchair fans who think real football is like Championship Mangager. No-one seems to be mentioning that we have got through the window without losing Lallana and Schneiderlin. They've both been on an off in terms of form over the last year or so but AP knows that they are very talented young players who've got an important role, as do a few premiership managers. Overall this has surely been a good transfer window. Some good new players (the signing of Lambert in particular caused excitement all over the city), removal of the dead wood and holding onto two of our most valuable assets. The loss of Surman is the only negative for me but that is all in the past now (although he is welcome back anytime). Plus AP will almost certainly have a few more players to bring in soon on loan or for free.

Re: New Signing
Papa ...
Always rated him ;-)
Seriously ...
Been likened to Kanu. Plays as a striker, winger and full-back.
Did a good job for Fiorentina in Serie A, but recently squeezed out.
A Wednesday fan who sometimes watches football in Italy, was really singing his praises on 606, and wished they had bought him.
Sounds good.

According to Yahoo:
Goalkeeper Tommy Forecast has cut short his loan stay at Grimsby and returned to Southampton.
The 22-year-old requested his month-long spell at Blundell Park be terminated after the Mariners completed the loan signing of Josh Lillis from Scunthorpe on Tuesday.
