Someone somewhere (Northampton?) wasn't too impressed with his commitment if this is anything to go by (found in Google Images):

Can't Run Won't Run

On You Tube there is a video that is entitled "The Sopranos In 7 Minutes" - it doesn't you the whole story, but there is no denying, everything about the show is just sheer class.

The "Rickie Lambert In 7 Minutes" slot, however, would have you thinking you're about to sign Zinedine Zidane. Thirty yard free kicks, stunning volleys, scissor kicks et al...!

What it won't show, is a miserable, down-trodden, greedy, bone-idle Scouse twat, more like "Can't Run, Won't Run".

Maybe Lambo-ghini (sic) will become the first player to enter the Hall Of Shame for what he did AFTER leaving County, from the x-rated tirade at Bristol Rovers to the texting of his old County team mates after they pipped us to the Play Offs a few years back.

He has certainly become the first Hall Of Shamer who won the Player Of The Year Award while at EP, so he ain't all bad, but he certainly ain't all that either.

Saw a rumour that Billy Sharp could be coming from Sheffield United. Can't believe another striker to be likely......unless Saga and Rasiak are definitely going.

Don't mind if Saga goes to be honest. I would like to see Rasiak stay but even if he goes we will still be better off than last year in my book. First priority now must surely be a decent CB or midfielder.

Not sure. The fact that he wants to could simply be because he hasn't a club at the mo. He did shore up the defence a bit but he also made same real howlers. This maybe because he was left unprotected so often. Would be worth a trial though.

Not on OS yet but Chelsea have loaned Jacob Melis to Saints til Jan 2nd. 18yo aM or CB. He could be a good signing as he has played england u19's regularly and for Chelsea reserves. Is close to the 1st team and has shown a lot of promise. He is versatile having played attacking midfield, right wing and CB. He has some speed which we are lacking as well. According to chelsea forums he also has a brain which could be useful. Wonder whose place he will take if we play him tomorrow.

From Echo...

Saints have taken Chelsea midfielder Jacob Mellis on loan until January.

The 18-year-old, who scored for the Blues’ reserve side against QPR last week, is one of a glut of promising youngsters coming through the ranks at Stamford Bridge who finds his first team chances currently blocked by the superstar squad Carlo Ancelotti has available to pick from.

Mellis will stay at Saints until January 2.

Meanwhile, Saints keeper Tommy Forecast has joined Grimsby on a one month loan.

And from a Chelsea website...

Jacob Mellis has this morning joined Southampton on loan, staying with the League One club until January 2nd, with an option to extend the deal for the entire season if all parties wish.

It’s a traditional step to take for a player in his third year at the club, and one Jacob probably needed to have the opportunity to do. After excelling at reserve team level towards the end of last season, a further spell at this level with the transfer window closed wouldn’t have aided his development. Chelsea have a good relationship with Southampton, loaning them Jack Cork last season and allowing them to sign Jack Saville in April, and with Dean Wilkins - brother of Ray - in place as Assistant Manager at St. Mary’s, relations are becoming stronger.

In terms of playing time, he’ll have a chance to make an impact, but with the team recently spending over £1m on Rickie Lambert, they may be looking to spend further before the end of August, and that will truly decide whether he plays often or not. He’s arguably good enough to prove useful to them, but now is the time for him to prove it.

Mellis’ loan marks a continued and vigorous policy of loaning this summer at Cobham, with Ryan Bertrand, Scott Sinclair, Lee Sawyer, Tom Taiwo, Miroslav Stoch, Patrick van Aanholt, and yesterday Michael Mancienne all finding temporary homes. Expect Nana Ofori-Twumasi to join that list before long, and perhaps ominously Gael Kakuta, as his absence from recent reserve fixtures strikes a similarity with Mellis’

New Signing - Page 2 Empty Re: New Signing

From another website........

So we have delved back into the market as expected and told to expect, but some what shocked to find a loan player and an attacking midfielder at that. We all I think expected a centre half, and for certain this is a position we need the most, but this young lad will I believe bring an awful lot to our ever improving squad.

Jacob Mellis, in from Chelsea, just 18 years of age, but a super star in the making so my Chelsea friends say. Mellis, a regular in the England under 19’s used to play at full back, and indeed we do perhaps need cover there also, but I wonder if he is being brought in as cover and also to spur on Mr. Lallana.

We all know how capable Adam Lallana is and what a future he could have, but thus far he has slipped from his pedestal a little. Maybe, just maybe this loan is to fire up Lallana a little to fight for his place? Good news in any case to have such a gifted lad on the books here at SFC.

Also this week we have seen an article in the Dutch press that J.P. Saeijs has put a shout out to Pardew to come and get him back. Saeijs has fallen out of favour back with Dutch club Roda JC and would dearly love to come back and help Saints climb up this league.

Will AP heed this calling? Will he listen to the fans who are I would say about 99% in favour of this as a group of people? I hope so, as in the Championship Saeijs was good week in week out, so in League One surely he can only be bigger and better. Not only is he big and strong in defence, but he can kick the ball to, taking wicked free-kicks.

There has also been talk of Jaidi’s deal being back on, which would of course be outstanding. In saying that I would think we need both Jaidi and JP as our cover at the back should we say lose Thomas and Perry at the same time is a nightmare at best.

Very exciting times at SFC. No longer are we concerned about who will be leaving, but we are excited at the prospect of new signings everyday. The sun shines everyday in Southampton.

Alf Tupper wrote:According to the Sunday People: "Southampton are set to swoop for Colchester's want-away midfielder Johnnie Jackson."

Seems like they got the team right but the player wrong. This is now on Echo website:

SAINTS have confirmed they are in talks with Colchester midfielder Dean Hammond.
The 26-year-old has made 54 appearances for the U's, scoring five goals.
He joined from Brighton in 2008, for a fee of £250,000, where he played under Saints' current number two, Dean Wilkins.
Alan Pardew has made it clear he is eager to add to Saints squad this week, and Hammond looks set to be the latest addition.
Hammond came through the youth ranks at Brighton, eventually becoming their captain.
He was also given the armband at Colchester, and this season has played a full 90-minutes in both their league games.
The highly rated midfielder has been described by Steve Claridge as "the type of player a team should be built around".
Throughout his league career, he has made 207 league appearances, scoring a total of 26 goals.
Saints have said they hope to tie up Hammond's signature within the next 24 hours.New Signing - Page 2 238044

According to Sky:

Southampton are in talks to sign midfielder Dean Hammond from League One rivals Colchester United.

Hammond joined Colchester from Brighton in a £250,000 deal 18 months ago and he has made 63 appearances during his time at the club.

However, the 26-year-old looks likely to become the latest name to leave the Weston Homes Community Stadium after Southampton confirmed discussions are at an advanced stage.

From the Daily Gazette (East Anglia):

Colchester United skipper Dean Hammond is in talks with Coca-Cola League One rivals Southampton.

The U's have already turned down two written offers for their captain, who joined them from Brighton and Hove Albion in January, 2008 for a fee of £250,000.

However, the U's have now accepted an offer from the Saints and the Hastings-born midfielder is now set for a move to the South Coast.

Hammond is out of contract at the end of the season at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

U's chairman Robbie Cowling said: "It would be easy for me to claim that Dean's impending transfer was the last act of a departing manager, but that would be totally untrue.

"Just as it would be untrue for anyone to claim that Paul left because his best players were being allowed to leave.

"I alone made the decision to allow Dean to move to Southampton and I did so because Dean was out of contract at the end of the season and he did not want to extend his stay with the U's beyond that time.

"Dean has been a fantastic player for Colchester United, but the fee I have received for him will allow the club to go out and find a worthy replacement that will also be here for next season and the one after that."

"If I had insisted that he stayed, we would have received no fee and next season we would have lost his services anyway.

"I turned down numerous verbal bids and two written bids before I finally agreed to sell him late on Monday night."

New Signing - Page 2 Empty CENTRAL DEFENDER ON LOAN

Post  SaintMike Thu 20 Aug 2009, 8:39 am

On Skysports this morning....

Skysports.com understands Southampton are poised to sign Preston defender Neal Trotman on loan.

Preston are willing to loan out the defender and Southampton have won the race to land the former Oldham youngster.

Trotman, who rejected a loan switch to Millwall earlier this summer, is believed to have agreed a six-month loan deal at St Mary's.

The 22-year-old is highly rated by Preston, but North End boss Alan Irvine is keen for him to get regular first-team action under his belt and is happy to farm him out on loan.

Trotman will become the second new face at Southampton in the last 48 hours following the arrival of Dean Hammond from Colchester.
