Well a hard game, not great football and Pardews formation of 1 up front certainly cancelled out Charlton. First half thought we weren't that good despite the goal. Puncheon wasn't much of a threat but the goal came about by Lambert flick on, good work by Puncheon to Antonio who took one touch then fired in. A good goal but cant remember their goalie making that many saves, a few long range shots but all went over or wide.

Referee was awful I lost count of the amount of handballs he didnt give! That said could have easily given one as a penalty against saints and in first half we had 2 corners that were blatantly goal kicks. the standard juts gets worse!!

Second half though we actually played better and had a few chances, Charlton always dangerous on the break but did play a lot of high balls and were looking to corners for most attempts on goal. Seaborne is an interesting player as somehow always seems to be in the centre of attention and does some good stuff then at times seems indecisive.

kelvin made some great saves to keep us in front and was my man of the match at end. With just a few minutes left AP took of Lambert which I couldnt work out as our main point to hit balls to and important helping defend at set pieces, taking Lambert off was a risk to me.

Puncheon for me did to many poor things though AP again singing his praises. Doesn't do his defensive duties, Antonio would be really good if he had a footballing brain and knew when to pass and when to shoot, great break at end of first half when he had chance to run with ball instead tries a pass, gets cut out and Charlton went straight down other end.

Anyone else think Otsemobor was awful, again. In second half gave up even running. Made one overlapping run then simply bottled out. Cant believe James or Thomas wouldnt do a better job, neither great full backs but at leats dont lack commitment

Otsemobor 5
Seaborne 6
Fonte 7
Harding 7
Lallana 7

Subs

Barnard 6
Wotton 6

Still keeps the dream alive and with Huddersfield and BR losing still in there. Tuesday will be tough game and hope we go out to win the game and look to dominate. Would hope we start Barnard but suspect Pardew will stick with same formation.

Semi is a disaster waiting to happen. Talking to some vitalnorwich posters seems he was the same for them.

He could be brilliant and really having a great game but then he will vanish. That he was a bitter disappointment as he always shaped as though he could be good but never quite produced.

I have to agree with you about the points you gave to him but he did make a great tackle just before the end when it looked as though Charlton were in.

Thought Kelvin was outstanding today and he was the main reason we won.

An excellent result but I don't think we're going to make the playoffs as we need to win every remaining game and hope the teams above us all slip up. Needless to say that, at this stage, if it weren't for the ten point deduction we'd be in the play offs now on 70 points.
On the flip side, if it weren't for the ten points we'd probably have the Pinnacle clowns in charge and not ML. So, with the beauty of 20/20 hindsight maybe the -10 was a blessing in disguise and we can - barring any miracles this season - go up next year.

Yeah, that's quite a good way of looking at it. I'd almost forgotten about Pinnacle ... for good reason I guess.

Agree about Semi mostly he has done okay for us but we should undoubtedly be looking elsewhere for a right back over the summer. He can put in a decent cross and has a bit of pace but doesn't tackle and bottles out of everything. He did save us at the death though coming across to nick the ball out of their strikers path. Seaborne has got a bit of stick on the other site and he is not exactly Jaidi but is decent in the air and extremely brave. With time I think he become a cult hero.

I thought Puncheon would get the ball and have a good idea what he wanted to do with it, move five yards and then forget what the idea was. As for Semi, I saw him close up with about 15 to go and the guy was knackered. Davies was outstanding again. Overall the result was just about fair when you consider they cleared one off the line that looked a cert.

As for the referee, one of the poorest I have seen for some time. And that went for both sides. He seemed to think that handball was OK even when Morgan did one right in front of him.

Seaborne was coming in for stick from fans near me and thought it was a bit unfair. Somehow he always seems to be in the think of it which I think is a good sign. He is a bit indecisive but I think he will improve and that he genuinely one for the future. Hope the fans give him a chance as we cant expect every player we sign to be the finished article like Fonte and Lambert, they cost real money. He certainly give his all and for centre halfs I think he is pretty good for our 3rd choice.
