Re: Saints v Plymouth Commentary (25/11/2008)
For the first 20 minutes BWP was getting plenty of the ball and we looked dangerous. As his srevice reduced we ran out of ideas. Lallana and Surman both seemed content to simply try and keep the ball before passing to a striker in such a position as to make defending more simple. We didn't seem to notice how much danger came our way by the Plymouth method of quicker ball to the front and wider game play. Patterson must be getting close to a start and hopefully Gobern will be back on the bench soon. Pearce must come back in and Cork moved to RB. The most annoying thing with Robertson is his distribution. Target men are supposed to be able to hold the ball up to bring others into play. To often he just flicked the ball on when he wasn't falling over. Schneiderlin had a quiet game for him and it seemed too many of our defenders were easily brushed aside when jumping for headers. Work still has to be done and as they gain experience they will learn how and when to make their move.Overall we edged the contest but could and should have been punished at the end for failing to make more of our possession. Dissapointing but it is another game without defeat. Perry really had a good game and came to our rescue over and over again. I hope that JP stops the suicidal way that the back four started to play the ball around sometimes getting caught in dangerous positions. Even Davis started this crazy game. If the forwards aren't making runs then Jan must do something about it.
That game was my first in the Northam end but won't be the last. The atmosphere and energy in there was incredible and the fans made themselves heard throughout. Well done lads you did the team proud.
