VVD TO LIVERPOOL AGREED FOR £75M? Empty VVD TO LIVERPOOL AGREED FOR £75M?

There are suddenly numerous reports that Liverpool have agreed with Saints to pay £75m for VVD. After giving Celtic their cut, this should still leave over £65m coming in. What the club does with that will surely speak volumes about the intentions of the new owner.

I would hope they may be looking at a top keeper, central defender, number 10, winger and striker. And they would all need to be capable of hitting the ground running and not need time to get fit or acclimatise to the Prem League. Just maybe, we could then end the season on a high, have a top-half finish and, perhaps a good run in the F.A. Cup.

But I was forgetting, this is Saints..... I'm dreaming again.

Think most of the money will be going straight into Mr Gao's bank account to reduce the loans he took out to buy the club, Will be surprised if more than £10m will be spent on any player and suspect they will spin that no point wasting money in the winter transfer window, then once relegated will need to cushion the blow.

I could be totally wrong but have seen nothing yet which would suggest they are going to invest funds in the team.

The main need has to be a striker but they are always in short supply, and would be wasted with Pellegrino still in charge. Plus every other club will be looking and we are a poor option now for players. Our best bet was doing a deal with City or Chelsea for less money but a striker and/or attacking midfield player on loan as part of the deal, the fact we will take the highest amount of money, especially from Scousehampton, I think shows where the money will be heading, Mr Gao's bank account

Obviously, many rumours around about who Saints will sign in January.....the strongest seeming to be Sturridge, Walcott and Shaw.

I'd have thought wage demands would stop either Sturridge or Walcott coming to us....and I DEFINITELY CAN'T see them both coming to us, as suggested by some sources.

As for Shaw, I don't really understand this one as we already have Bertrand, Targett and McQueen in this position. Surely players for other positions are needed much more urgently...... unless Bertrand is on the way out??

Like you cant see Shaw coming here, he will end up at Tottenham. I would rather we tried to bring in Ings than Sturridge, we lack a front man who can hold the ball up and a loan option should be available. Not that fussed over Walcott as to injury prone, we have enough of those at the moment, but would bring some pace. Supposedly one striker on loan and another buy but will see.

Can see Bertrand going in summer but would be stupid to sell now, let him know he can go in June and he should be okay unlike VVD. We may have Targett and McQueen but Bertrand is a top left back and if we are in a relegation battle need him. With VVD gone and if he doesn't start Redmond then think Bertrand will be happy for now
