Would be good if both deals were made permanent as provides some stability and reduces the summer transfer madness

That doesn't look too promising. Of course I should like to see both Toby and Bertrand signed up on permanent deals but looks as though it's not going to happen in January......and possibly not at all. At least we have Targett for left back but I think Toby would be a really big miss.

I would love to sign both, Bertrand will allow Target to develop without being rushed and one of them could play in midfield eventually.
Toby has been immense and I suspect other clubs will look to offer Madrid far more, although think we have first call Madrid do not have to sell and get him back at end of loan. They would then be able to sell for at least double what we would get him for plus I suspect likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be looking at him and can probably double his money, the stupidity of the financial fair play rules which penalises the smaller clubs and allow the top clubs to widen the gap and stop any "new pretenders" such as saints breaking into their Gentleman's club. Now know why Cortese was one of the few chairmen to vote against the proposal, he was a shrewd individual

But suspect saints could well make him the top earner on £50k a week which based on a 4 year deal would be reasonably attractive and probably include a signing on fee.
still think someone such as Man u or Arsenal will offer more money but would be hopeful if we were to sign but rumours suggest we are still after other CHs so maybe not willing to wait until end of season for protracted negotiations. Again I think our CHs with Wanyama/Schniederlin/Davis in front of them are not as exposed as other central defenders, as Lovren has discovered.
