Day 8.......more than a quarter gone.

Still nothing concrete.

Astori.........reportedly we need to up our offer if we want him.

Coutinho.......strongly linked (along with other clubs) with this attacking midfielder.....don't really understand why we need someone in this position unless it's to cover Lallana long-term absence......and there have been tweets that Lallana will out till Easter.

Butland.........although Adkins says we are NOT signing a keeper, there are tweets saying our offer for Butland has been accepted.

Wellington Nem.......rumours but have not seen anything more.

Douglas.......likewise

Not looking good I'm afraid, think our wonderful transfer committee have got it wrong again and why we persist in chasing Italian clubs is beyond me.

Day 18....

Saints unveil their first signing of the transfer window, Vegard Forren, for an undisclosed fee thought to be around £3.5 to £4 million......but this is completely overshadowed by the firing of Nigel Adkins and appointment of Mauricio Pochettino.

Resigning myself now to very little more Saints activity (if any) in this window. Would be delighted to be proved wrong by a couple of good signings.

well I think we may bring in a couple of faces even if one maybe a loan. No activity would be a real risk and I would prefer de ridder to go and allow others a chance to show what they can do.

He said the same on the day he signed, suggesting he had been watching the squad. Have to say while our first 11 are fine still dont think we have the quality in depth and when you think our bench has often included, Fox, Hoovield, De Ridder,, Lee, Guly have to say it rarely looks capable of changing a result, okay maybe for trying to hang on. Fact is we have not won enough games and if we are to stay up we need at least 6 more wins from last 15, doesnt sound much but have only won 5 from first 23.

Just need a couple of injuries and can see we would easily struggle but unfortunatley think we have given up on uk players. Signing Dorren for me would be a good addition and no great risk as would always have resale value, Tom Ince and Danny Graham the same. With the Sky money so high next season I do think spending some money now improving the squad would be a smart move.

Perhaps another reason why Adkins got the push he may have made plain he wanted to add to the squad and Cortese doesnt want to.

Looks like no activity and very disappointed. To many squad players simply not good enough and think all of Cortese's words about ambition, champions league etc are mostly hot air.

Plenty of activity from clubs around us and will be interesting to see who chaneges positions.

Bit like the summer really when think out transfer policy and Transferr committee were really showed to be a bit out of their depth. Signings were either late,(Yoshida, Boruc and Mayuka), paid to much (J Rod and Ramerez) or failed to deliver so far (Mayuka, Davis, Gazzinger) Dont think 5 wins in 24 games can be seen as a successful transfer policy

Well wont be staying up as looks like no one else coming in. De Ridder, Barnard, Forte and Reeves or gone out on loan, only Reeves likely to have any long term future with us.

Only good news is De Ridder on loan to Bolton but downside is only for a month! Guess with Mayuka due back early with Zambia out of African cup he may get a chance out wide right but would suggest not a lot of pressure on Puncheon in that role though notice he still hasnt signed a new contract.

Still in deep depression. Not wanting the complete madness of QPR but I do think there must have been the opportunity for one or two signings to strengthen.

All this talk of moving on to the next level is great but first we have to make sure we don't mess everything up by going down. Can't really see 'Tino' as a Championship manager.

You look at the team that saggy chops is putting out and you think that sooner or later will click and will catch us. Agree 12m for Samba and £100k a week nuts but Jenas and Sandros on loan are good acquisitions improving his squad and would have improved ours. Look at Newcastle and their french contingent Sissoko cost less than £2m and alreday has 2 goals! Pacey and ran at players, but of course he is not Italian or Japanese so cant be any good.

Everyone says bad time to buy but there were decent deals to be done, Butland who we offered £6m for just a few months ago goes for just over £3m to Stoke, can we not compete with them? Sure Boruc is doing fine now but we could have loaned him back to Birmingham as Stoke have done and would have then had 2 good young goalies next season, building for the future and having real competition. If we thought Butland was so good a few months ago why not move when we had the chance, or has the money dried up??

Our head of scouting seems to be doing a great job, not, but then from a club with Champions league ambition surprising we brought in someone from MK Dons, still at least that way no threat to Les Reed and his cushy little number
