Re: SAINTS-POMPEY POST-MATCH REACTION
Now the dust has settled I'll put here what I put on 606:
'Premier League, you're having a laugh'. Indeed. Saints outplayed them, especially in the first half and we were only undone on the break in the last quarter and by poor finishing (although, admittedly, James was in annoyingly non-calamitous form). The scoreline flatters Portsmouth and while we're going to have to take the inevitable gloating that's coming our way, they'd do well to remember that.
Well played Saints, very unlucky against a very poor (soon to be ex-) Premier League side. At the end of the day, we're on the up and they are on the slide - probably to oblivion.
Enjoy your win, Sk8s, as it's probably all you have left.
Thank GOD that's over.
PS any gloating skates on here - I am one of those people with the power to delete posts.

Re: SAINTS-POMPEY POST-MATCH REACTION
I am in the process of switching to my other life and can do the same.
Re: SAINTS-POMPEY POST-MATCH REACTION
Great atmosphere, and a great effort from the lads but the prem class shone through in the end.
Our slow defence couldn't deal with their counter, everything of theirs came down the left and we we're exposed.
At least we went for it and didn't sit back
Really disappointed though

Re: SAINTS-POMPEY POST-MATCH REACTION
Like most pleased with performance but have got to take the chances and we really had enough to be 3 up at halftime. Shame AP didnt try and contend with the sub by brothel creeper grant and shore up the right hand side of midfield plus didnt agree with taking Waigo off. Should have been Antoino whose runs are just to unpredictable and leave big gaps behind so no wonder Thomas was exposed
Think it is useful we have other players to bring in next week as think they gave all plus most of these played on Tuesday. Jaidi so dodgy Tuesday had a great game and won everything in the air. I sincerely hope AP stops this stuff with Lambert taking corners, says he has enough height in the box and best delivery of dead ball. Please note goal came from great delivery by Harding with Lambert on the end of it, says it all for me, lallana not bad at dead balls either so get Lambert in the box!
Still going to wembley!

Re: SAINTS-POMPEY POST-MATCH REACTION
We lost because we were chasing the game and got caught on breakaways. Partly true I suppose but doesn't tell the whole story. The main reason we lost is the misses made by Papa Waigo when we were well on top. We could and should have been 2 or 3 goals up by half time.
Even after the break there was no inkling of what was going to happen. We started with possibly the best move of the game but again failed to make it count. when the wheels came of they did it bigtime. Pompey broke and scored and then Lambert equalised. Still we had the hope of a win. Pompey scored another and again we equalised. This time as we celebrated with singing and high fives the ref disallowed it. Chasing the game now we fell for the sucker punch and ended up losing heavily a game we could have won.
I am not happy.

As Matty says we are going to Wembley and I have 6 tickets to collect as soon as they become available.

Re: SAINTS-POMPEY POST-MATCH REACTION
It's over a day since the game finished but I still can't really put my emotions into words. Just so many emotions to be felt and, I'm sure like others who were at the game, since the final whistle I have had the game on repeat in my head. Playing Pompey really brings out the best from our supporters (except those who only turn up for a fight who probably won't come to another game this season) and I came home with not much voice left in me. The pompey fans were surprisingly quiet. To see the way the players battled and showed some good quality made me proud to be a Saints fan but being beat by Pompey is still such an awful feeling. We were all absolutely gutted and the scoreline was really not deserved for such an even game. That 2 second delay between the ball hitting the back of the net and the roar of skates from the other end of the ground is truly sickening.
I thought it was interesting to see how the players coped against premier league oppostion, albeit very poor premier league opposition. Lallana looked like he had found his level and Lambert and Jaidi were still very dominant in the air against premier league players. Hammond, Harding and Perry all put in a great shift but were as expected slightly below premier league quality. It was only Thomas who I thought was poor, despite having little protection from Antonio who still caused a lot of problems for the pompey defence. Schneiderlin was quite anonymous which wasn't really what we needed especially against the giant Papa Bouba Diop and O'Hara in the middle.
First half Saints were mainly on top and had the best chances with Papa having a head very well saved by James but he should have done better. Thomas had a bullet header stopped by James and Jaidi headed over from a yard after James spilled a cross. Pompey didn't threaten our goal much with Perry and Jaidi stopping everything but Kelvin made a great save from O'hara's dipping volley. Half time Saints were applauded off after a good display but hadn't taken any of their chances. I would have liked to have seen us get to the byline more as Pompey's biggest weakness was clearly at full-back.
Second half Saints came out strong again and James made a superb reaction save to stop Lallana's header. Pompey started to come more into the game with Dindane shooting just wide and then as I started to believe more and more that we could win the game Quincy put Pompey ahead with a curving pass into the far corner. I though Kelvin could have stopped it and Thomas could have got a tackle in but it was a tidy finish. Massive response from the fans and within a few minutes Ricky had risen highest to nod home Harding's free kick. We went mental. After equalising we seemed to push forward more and I don't really want to write about the rest but with our defenders being caught up the pitch after set pieces there were holes in our defence which Pompey exploited. I don't really think it was fitness that told we just left space in behind which was used by their more pacy players. Players and fans were all completely gutted at the final whistle but many stayed to applaud the players off for pitch for a great effort.

We tend only to mention the ref when they have a bad game but Howard Webb was superb yesterday, just wish we could have that quality every week.

Yes Webb and his team were excellent and showed how the job could and should be done.
Still can't understand why Perry was subbed for Holmes.
Why Lambert has to take the corners.
Why nobody covers Antonio's position when he is on the left taking throwins.
Why he throws the same all the time.
Other than that I feel less hurt and disappointed than I would expect having lost to the blue lot.

Hard to put into words how I feel, numb I think about sums It up.We didn't deserve a 4-1 defeat and that's what hurts the most,I feel gutted for the players & Staff at the club. All the effort put in deserved a better reward, however we still have Wembley to look foreward too and, promotion next season,I feel we will miss out this season but go up as champions next season. So plenty to still be positve about.

That pretty much sums up my feelings too. While I wasn't expecting a win (well I was hoping for one but not expecting it) the scoreline is truly sickening and the reason I felt sick after the final whistle and have avoided reading anything about it - apart from Saints fans' reactions on the various fora - or watching it on tv. It always hurts being beaten by *Them*; 1-0 or 2-1 you can live with but 4-1 is a real smack in the face as it does not reflect the game at all and I think that the more honest Skates will admit that. I would still feel slightly hard done by if we'd played like that against Cheslea or ManU, both far superior teams to the Skates, and come away on the wrong end of 4-1 but when it's that rabble from the eastern end of the M27 it makes it that much worse, particularly when they were fielding players they should not have been due to not being able to afford them, not paying them on time and not paying FOR them (Aruna Dindane). As for Saints, they were brilliant and played the Skates off the pitch for a large part of the game and it's definitely one of those games where the better team lost.
On a lighter note for anyone who did not catch Adam Lallana's post match interview on Solent, he said he wants Portsmouth to get relegated. Andy Awford's (the Poopey summariser) response was hilarious: 'Thanks a bunch, Adam!'

I can't bring myself to watch South Today. I know that sounds lame and the sort of thing the Skates would delight in but f**k 'em, quite frankly. I can't be arsed with four Skate goals and the SBF rubbing it in.
I see some Sk8 c*** is larging it up on Saints Web. I suppose he ought to make the most of it as it's about the last thing he'll gloat over when that lot get wound up.

Re: SAINTS-POMPEY POST-MATCH REACTION
Like most wasnt looking forward to today but gradually getting over it as have rest of season and Wembley to look forward to. While play offs may be out of reach now AP can make sure we put in a run to the end of season which forms the platform for next season and sorts out what is the most productive team line up.
Just hope the the skates go into administration, would actually now prefer Liquidation but the liar storyteller will I'm sure go into Admin at the last possible minute to cheat the courts, like they have cheated on everything else. Just want to email scudamore at PL to make sure they don't collude with the crooks to release funds to save the PL from embarassment. (Anyone know an e mail address, PL site has a contact page without an email address!)

Re: SAINTS-POMPEY POST-MATCH REACTION
Pompey can't go into admin now without going to court. The way they will go into admin is for someone to put them in because of a debt that is owed to them.
As far as the Premier League bailing them out. Peter Scudomore has already said that that is not going to happen. Apparantly West Ham brought up that idea because they are scared of losing the 4 points that they have taken from Pompey.

Re: SAINTS-POMPEY POST-MATCH REACTION
bit of a joke that west ham should think about after Tevez saga, whole PL is about greed and I'm alright jack attitude. be good when 2 or 3 of them go bust.
