DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE: Post-match reaction

It sounded like a solid performance in the sort of place where we'd have lost or scraped a draw this time last year. I wasn't expecting an easy game, so 3-1 is nice and not really flattering given the performance for the first half and most of the second half, barring the last ten minutes of anxiety when the team switched off, very nearly losing the plot completely, and let Daggers back into it.
We were lucky, Daggers having a ball hit the underside of the bar and it coming off the line could have been given as a goal - dodgier ones have been given - and there were two Daggers penalty shouts which weren't given.

Shame Brighton had to grab a late winner so we didn't cut the gap but there you go. Automatic promotion is ours to lose. At least the team have discovered how to win on these sort of away games on dodgy pitches.

Just picked up son from railway station so have had his thoughts. Not a great game of football, tight pitch, Dagers lumped it upfield everytime they got the ball so not a great game but saints stuck at it. Plenty of chances and over the 90 minutes 3 - 1 a fair reflection. His view was looked like a penalty for them and certainly their players thought had gone over the line for an equaliser but they couldnt see from their end so a nervy last 10 minutes for all the saints fans.

Good goals by Lallana and Lambert who probably had easier chances. Guly not a great game but on the score sheet again. Jaidi had a good game, his type of game ball in the air most of the time and he won everything.

Chamberlain also had a good game and we seemed to lose the plot a little when he went off, Guly out wide left with Barnard up front. Looks like lost our shape and as soon as conceded the one always going to be grandstand finish. Chaplow didnt have a great game but tight pitch probably didint help him with all his running.

Bottom line is great 3 points but need to keep this going, its a tough league and we need to keep the pressure on other clubs by winning, at least Swindon beat Charlton. A couple of signings to strengthen squad even if loans I suspect and see Puncheon is back but Millwall waiting on us which might mean we are waiting to see what happens with Chamberlain.
