I see our very own Diggerman is now a web celebrity. Very Happy This appeared on Vital Saints website today.........

Southampton Interviews Boro Fan Diggerman
Only a small connection to the Saints maybe but I know that if and when he appears at St Mary's with a team for the first time, our former manager will learn how highly we regard him.

So the first question will come as no surprise to anybody.

Question 1) How do you feel having Wee Gordon as your manager ?
Really pleased! I think Gordon's a true 'football man' who knows the game. He's also his 'own man' who wont be dictated to - i think Boro need that.

Then, with all the talk about Boro starting to sign up a Scottish team including current internationals, again a simple to find question.

Q2) Do you think his policy of bringing in the Scots will help you return to the Premiership and why?
Having been a manager at Celtic , he obviously knows the decent players up there, and the equivalent players in England would (i think) be more expensive. There's a major rebuilding job to be done at Boro , and i think Gordon is definately the man for the job. So , yes i do think he'll get us back up - maybe not this season though.

Now we come to learn more about Diggerman himself.
Q3) How long have you supported Boro?
I've supported Boro since i was 10 years old - my older brother took me to my first game (at Ayresome Park)

This smoothly leads us to the next.
Q4) Can you remember your very first game?
My very first game was Good Friday , March 31st , 1972 , at home to Luton Town - we drew 0-0 (surprise , surprise)

This time we switch to the players he has seen.
Q5) Who is your favourite Boro player of all time?
John Hickton

And next a warning to all Boro opponents.
Q6) Who is your favourite current player?
Barry Robson - tough , no-nonsense midfielder , who gives his all for the club.

Then if we have learned the best we might be interested to learn what he thinks is the worst that he has seen.
Q7) Who is the worst player you have seen wearing your colours?
I would say (off the top of my head) a toss-up between Lee Dong-Gook and Michael Ricketts

Next we come to the player he thinks could give the wee mans squad a major boost.
Q8) Looking at your squad/team now which player would you like to see join the club given the chance?
Maybe somebody like David James - we need a decent keeper , and have done since skippy (Mark Schwarzer) left

Again the next question follows easily.
Q9) How well do you believe you will do this season and who do you fear most?
Hopefully automatic promotion , but i think we'll be good for the play-offs.
The relegated clubs , and i also think Ipswich well do well. Also Forest and Leicester.
Dark horses - Leeds United

Finally we ask Diggerman to name his all-time great Boro XI.
Q10) Please name your XI of all time Boro greats.
Goalkeeper : Mark Schwarzer
Defenders: Stuart Boam , Gareth Southgate , Willie Maddren , Nigel Pearson.
Midfielders: Graeme Souness , Craig Johnstone , David Armstrong , Juninho
Strikers : John Hickton , Fabrizio Ravenelli.
(Taken from players i've actually seen)

Cheers , diggerman

That team is certainly a mouthwatering side if it was possible to bring them all together in their prime.

Maybe only had a loose connection to Saints but we did have Nigel Pearson rescue us from relegation in his short stay here as well. I am sure we will all be watching to see how Wee Gordon does as well with his Boro adventure.

Thanks to Diggerman for the interview.

(Hope you will forgive me for copying it here)
