Rugby ruling delights Southampton

Southampton Football Club have revealed their delight after finding out they are to host pool matches at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

St Mary's is one of eight football stadia named as host grounds in the successful England bid.

"We are delighted that St Mary's will be one of the host venues," said club official Andy Oldknow.

"We look forward to welcoming a worldwide rugby audience to Southampton in 2015," he added.

Kieran Humphrey, sport and strategy manager at Southampton City Council, told BBC Radio Solent: "What a great boon this is just to promote the sport of rugby in the city and to have those international stars here.

"But also to have visitors coming in, using the city and getting involved in rugby.

"It's really good news for the city, and now visitors can get to know Southampton as a rugby destination."

Who cares though? I think it would be great to go down to St. Mary's and watch some international rugby
