Saints prospects in Carling Cup

With a visit to Rotherham in the third round, have Saints any prospect of a good run in the competition?

I think we have as good a chance as any championship sides .. as we wont/cant squad rotate as we simply dont have the number of players. However obviously it depends on the draw but if Cardiff and p#mpy can get to the fa cup final then anything can happen. Do you think its a good thing if we progress to say the quarter/ semi final then get knocked out ?.. i know we need the money but the players looked really jaded against blackpool and i have kind of put that down to the league cup... league comes first for me ..Up the saints

I believe a successful cup run, even if only against lower-level clubs, would work miracles for the boys' confidence. What worries me is how a defeat to a club from a lower league, like Rotherham, might damage their morale!!

I agree with you Mike. Though we should be capable of ending Rotherhams run. Only concern I have is how strong physically are they compared to our boys.
Perhaps Ollie will get a game as we are going to need him sooner or later and he has to play to gain both confidence and experience.

I think that we need a good cup run no matter how tireing it is for our young squad. we need the money from it and the youngsters need the experience from it. that is my opinion.
