Forster 6 made a couple of decent saves think he should have done better on the goal
McQueen 7 good first half quiet second one of few who could hold his head up
Yoshida 6 fairly solid but missed a decent chance
Virgil 7 not his best but still better than most
Martina 3 no positional sense can't tackle and crossing abysmal, put Bertrand on right
Hojberg 6 okay but about all
Classie 4 when alongside Romeo much better player, cannot play that role
Ward Prowse 5 can't fault effort but corners were poor
JRod 3 awful, missed our best chance never won a header all night, needs to play in U23 again
Long 6 no service but jiggly fouls and offside just frustrate team
Redmond 4 no confidence wayward passing never a threat needs to be taken out of firing line

Subs
Boufal 5 thought he would be good in Europe, nope!
Romeau 6 took time to settle in should have started
Austin 6 far to late before brought on

Puel 2 no imagination, no plan B, 433 or nothing, 7 changes from Saturday game no wonder no cohesion in the team. His sides have failed to score on 8 of last 9 European games that is a fairly damming statistic
Start playing your best starting 11 and stop treating the fans with contempt. Plus I believe Fonte is a disgrace not being in squad. He should be stripped of captaincy if doesn't want to be cup tied, we pay his salary then pick him

Thanks Matty.....it certainly made depressing viewing on TV. Think it is now a confidence thing. I think Puel should give a youngster a place in the front line, All of the regular strikers are off the boil at the moment. Also, missed Davis in the engine room last night.

Fonte decided he didn't want to play? I haven't seen anything about that and thought it must be Puel's decision to rest him.

One thing I don't understand.....is goal difference calculated differently in Europe? Apparently, if the next game is 0-0 Saints will qualify but if it should be a score draw then they won't......although Saints will still have the better goal difference. What's that all about? (Worrying, because that's the sort of thing that would happen to Saints, to go out because of an apparent injustice)

UI think before gOal difference it's head to head so as we drew 0 0 out there and if drew the same at home we would be the same but have a better GD. For som odd reaso head to head if a score draw they go through as a score draw beats a nil nil draw. Only UEFA could make up these rules.

Fonte has not played in any if the games, a strong view a deal done in summer with his antics not to get him cup tied so if a club bids in January he can play for them in Europe, 5 games and not played anything, only one I think in that position and cannot be a coincidence.

An extremely big game on Thursday.   The wrong result and this could effectively be the end of our season.   I can't see any way we will get past Liverpool over 2 games in the League Cup, despite Bournemouth's success against them at the weekend...... and I think Saints are going to struggle to finish mid-table in the League (I'm thinking maybe 14th to 16th at the moment).   This season we could easily see Bournemouth finish above us, a little embarrassing I'm thinking.

So, Thursday's match could well be Saints' last game in Europe for a long time........or perhaps I am being needlessly despondent.   And, I can't honestly see Saints getting through.   I'd guess we will score first to be 1-0 up at half-time, probably missing dozens of chances to increase the lead.    We will have a penalty wrongly awarded against us....or give away a sloppy goal......around about the hour mark.    We will then push forward for a winner, forget about efficient defending and end up losing 1-2 or 1-3 even.     We shall see......

Just hard to predict, our home form has been good in Europa league and fact no travel would expect a stronger team, Davies to start and Austin, think Martina will be picked so hope he plays better having been rested. Would hope Simms gets a start with Redmond on the bench. Yoshida in for Fonte and if he plays well stays in the team, life must be tough for Fonte earning what £50k a week how frustrating.

Think Puel will be nervous about not getting through so will be a reasonably strong starting 11, Martina excluded.

I am going for a 2-1 very nervous win.

Gutted, a very poor performance, negative tactics despite supposedly playing 3 up front, tactically naive little creativity, no plan B and most worrying no team spirit. Puel for me is looking increasingly like a poor choice, unless you want to save money
as a club by selling your best players and buying cheap replacements.

The lack of team spirit and lack of Fonte indicates a manager being instructed who to pick, can only be why Redmond is an ever present, or a manager  it willing to listen or try something different. He has a system and players have to fit into that rather than make the most of what he has. He doesn't know his best team, he keeps favourites, yet again no Classie and Hojberg plays 5th game in a row. We are strongest with Classie and Romeau together, our 3 forwards are far to wide do not link up with each other which for me is why we fail to score from open play. Redmond was awful again, he does occasionally do some good stuff gets into box but his final ball is always poor, shoots when should pass, passes when should shoot. He should not start until he has some confidence.

Forster 5 didn't instil any confidence, fumbled a couple and kicking atrocious
Cedric 6 one of our better players got forward more but final ball poor
Virgil 6 a bit casual at times but his speed meant he corrected his own errors, gone in summer
Yoshida 6 fairly solid but a few nervous clearances
Bertrand 6 got forward but doesn't link well with Redmond
Romeau 6 at fault with goal but was our midfielder
Davies 5 struggled to make an impact
Hojberg 5 a mix of good and bad, goes forward well but several times lost the ball or misplaced his pass
Simms 6 cannot be faulted for effort but didn't make much of an impact
Austin 5 Once he went off no chance of scoring but had not done much
Remind 4 becoming a legend for all the wrong reasons

Subs

Long 5 an opportunity he didn't seem bothered about worrying if Austin out for any length of time
Tadic 5 Cple of touches but as suspected didn't make a tackle or head the ball
Ward Prowse 5 odd sub, he wasn't going to help  us score but just 1 striker on the bench

Leicester supposedly in a relegation battle, then so are we. The players don't seem up for it and we have a manager unable or unwilling to adapt when not working. You know I am not a fan of Reed, never have been as a Cortese  man who survived and you wonder how, stabbing others in the back is my view. He wanted Puel as he could have control, the Fonte position is a club issue and direction, he couldn't influence Poch or Koeman when we were successful and now you see the results. On a positive next European visit will be money well spent as won't have wasted on a football match

Thanks Matty. Hope we can quickly turn this mini-slump around, as you say lack of team spirit seems to be a real issue.

On a more positive note, I have now got from somewhere a strange feeling that we could somehow reach Wembley in the League Cup.
