SHOULD THEY COME OR SHOULD THEY GO?

Which of the first team squad do you think we should be willing to let go? And which areas of the team would you like to see strengthened??

We can let Pelle go, and possibly Wanyama. We need another right back, Cedric will get better but Martina is good enough when looking for top 6. A another ball winning midfielder, would love us to bring Schneiderlin back, a better quality back up goalie and a striker if we let Pelle go, JRod and Austin could be fine but both have injury problems so a potential risk. Will need to replace Fonte at some stage, Yoshida will not be good enough, great 4th choice but not the replacement for jose

Fantastic if we could get Schneiderlin back but can't see there is any chance of that. I'd say there is more chance of Walcott or Chamberlain coming back....and they won't either

I must admit in thinking about our strikers I had forgotten all about Juanmi. It seems something of a mystery why he never got a proper chance.

Rumours are possibly 5 to leave, Pelle, mane, Juanami, Tadic and Wanyama.

Would be disappointed if Tadic goes as showed towards the end of the season what he could do though still inconsistent. Mane as 2 years on his contract so would be happy if we hold out and say he stays for another season then sell. If Utd do bid then would want Depay plus £25m. Think Wanyama has played his last game for us but not irreplaceable. Need a bidding war though with 1 year left, think Spurs will come in with a bid but will mean a dumb levy bid to start with.
Shame about. Juanami as never given a chance I would loan out for a year and see how he develops. Pelle would be happy if we keep but again would not be devastated if he leaves, Long has shown he should be first choice striker

Was some rumours around transfer window and earlier in the season I would have said take the money plus think Long would have been interested but not now. Fiinally given his chance with Pelle out and showed what he can do when played in the right position. Has European football with us not at Liverpool and believe his wife didn't settle in the north when at Hull. Would need to offer at least £25m to be worth considering and even Liverpool wouldn't be that reckless, then again £25m for Lovren so can't rule out!

Would be a decent buy and possible replacement for Mane problem will be if they want Long, which we won't do so doubt will happen. That said all the problems with Liverpool were due to Brenda when he was in charge

I am going to be many times more angry about RK's departure if any of our better players follow him.

So, Wanyama now gone. A pity to lose a team regular but I don't feel anything like as despondent about this as I did when Schneiderlin left. Obviously a lot depends on who will take his place.


I see it's being reported/rumoured that Saints are in pole position for McGovern, the Northern Ireland keeper who has been doing well at the Euros......and apparently he is available for free, which will interest Reed. Perhaps Steve Davis having signed a new contract will help.....

I'm sure I read somewhere that Charlie Austin had been brought in as a potential replacement for Pelle so I'm that is going to happen Matty......especially if Rodriguez is now fit.    They could use Long, Austin, Rodriguez and maybe bring on Seager or bring back Gallagher to the fold. It would, I think, be one of those 'statements of intent' that people talk about, if Saints were to buy in a top striker but can't really see that happening.   Maybe just another squad player as back-up..........as Juanmi has now gone as well.

I see Saido Berahino has turned down a new contract with West Brom, although a string of clubs has been linked with him.    Might he be a possible??

Sandro Wagner has also been mentioned.

Not sure we would want berahino, another one with an ego and illusions of how good he is. There seems to be talk around a number 10 type not an out and out striker , I think Long will be our no 9 JRod or Austin off him if they are fit but with their injuries that would be a worry. As you say we have Seagrr and Gallagher so maybe they will get a chance, I would prefer Gallagher to go out on loan and start scoring goals

Good news re Long extending an important signing, just need Tadic to sign then can focus on a couple of signings. Would like someone to replace Wanyama, Romeau is good but no similar big guy to protect back 4 another striker and a back up goalie , guess the prioritiy depends on if Tadic signs.
