HOME TO LEICESTER

On the face of it Saints should be clear favourites to win this one.....and, by doing so, make it three consecutive league wins. But of course, football (and Saints in particular) has a habit of producing the unexpected. Can we get 3 points?

Not a good result, although Leicester are on form at the moment. I felt we could have won it but they looked hungrier and seemed to want it more. And yesterday I think we would have won if we still had Schneiderlin.

not a good result as so well on top first half. We would have won if Koeman had not brought on Classie, he was awful. Gave the ball away in midfield unable to make any tackles stick and lost his players creating problems for others around him. Also bringing on Jrod was odd as the midfield was being overrun and he kept Romeau on the bench.

we dominated first half and could have been 3 or 4 up. Two good goals from our centre backs, flick header from Fonte and VVD following up and little really threat up front from Leicester, long balls and lots of crosses which admittedly Kelvin flapped at a couple but generally we looked well on top. Tadic showed some nice touches to beat players, and the midfield was working well though Mane had an off day. They are however a physical side and took out wanyama and Cedric while ref was not looking and the head injury Cedric sustained saw him replaced on hour mark.

Second half we were poor, we sat back and let them come on to us and far to much show boating from Pelle, Mane, tadic when we got in good places but wanted to be far to clever. Koeman really needs to get the message across that look first then decide on best option not flick and hope someone might be there. Yoshida came on fro Cedric but he did not seem to be suffering and was one of our better players, all the threat cam down our left where Bertrand had a terrible game, 10 days with England and Woy and he becomes hopeless,

No surpise really we conceded though we did have a couple of chanecs to make tit 3 and win, Mane was though on goal but took the ball wide of Schemiechel but lost the ball, lost his footing but couldn't see if tripped. then through on half way line and tried audacious lob but always to high, if he had looked to his left we had a player open and free. Pelle shot to early high and over when he had time to control and place.

Davis 5 arguably not directly at fault but poor clearance lead to equaliser, flapped at a few crosses, why do we have Gazzaniga?
Cedric 7 looked good going forward and had a good game, walloped by a Leicester player and head injury but I would have left on
Fonte 6 good goal but second half struggled
VVD 8 best player for me, calm in defence, scored again and had a header cleared of the line
Bertrand 5 really poor game especially second half
Davis 7 was doing okay do not think at fault for being overrun in midfield should not have been subbed
Wanyama 7 battled away picked on by ref, 2 tackles first half, fouls given and booked played ball both times.
JWP 5 really struggled and seems unable to make a tackle stick and always slow in releasing the ball
Tadic 6 decent first half, second went missing and offered no defensive support
Mane 5 really poor game, looked tired
Pelle 5 decent first half but far to wasteful second half though got no support from ref

Classie 3 incredibly he makes Martina look like a good player, poor in just about every dept
Ysihdia 6 did okay but again some weak clearances that brought on more pressure when being pushed.
JRod 5 why he gets on ahead of Juanme, added nothing

Yet again another poor refereeing display, missed huge amount of fouls from Leicester, yet conned as they fell over at any touch, hate to think what the official foul count was, Tierney another one fast tracked who is out of depth.

We should have signed Vardy when the chance, 2 good goals took a couple of heavy challenges and just got up, no theatricals. Not sure England but would he will score goals all season though first half never got a look in but that was because we played as a team

Regarding Clasie, has he been brought back too quickly when perhaps a run with the reserves might have been a better option ? What are your feelings on this ?

Thanks Matty. The Sky 'highlights' don't give the full picture of what is going on. I didn't see JWP do anything of note.....apart from his corner kicks, I think his corners and free-kicks can be the only justification for giving him a game, and don't think that's enough.

Maybe Koeman thinks he owes JRod game time to try to get him to full match fitness. I see Long was not in the squad, is he injured or out of favour?

I hope Man United were having Mane watched......perhaps his poor display will put them off trying to sign him.

Surely Clasie must have just been having an off day, he can't be that bad, can he?? We have Harrison Reed and Jake Hesketh both keen as mustard, I'd like to see them getting more chance, maybe they'll be involved for the Cup.

Mike, Long was stretchered off last week when playing for Ireland. He has an ankle injury, which will take a few weeks I believe.
