Cortese's future.....ANOTHER BUST-UP WITH THE LIEBHERRS??

Will be interesting to see how this pans out. I can see from the Trusts position that NC tends to act as the owner but of course its not his money and is already one of the highest paid CEs in the Premier league. NC however wants the Trust to provide the money to achieve what he sees as the next step and suspect they have little knowledge or appetite for the risks associated with running football clubs.
I am not a great NC fan, think he is to arrogant and does not really worry about the fans who have been there through the bad times as well as the good times. However he has been successful and successful clubs need continuity, even at the CE level.
I have always thought Cortese ambition is to be CE at somewhere like Inter Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid etc and he saw us as a stepping stone to his future career so will be interesting to see how this pans out, have to say think some of the players have signed due to his vision.

Re: Cortese's future.....ANOTHER BUST-UP WITH THE LIEBHERRS??
His communication with fans has been almost non-existent and I have not agreed but with some of the ways he has handled things but NC has undoubtedly had a 'vision' for the club and it would be a great shame to lose this.
Also there may be a worry that unless matters are quickly resolved transfers may be put on hold??

I don't like this. No, Cortese can arguably handle things better but his decisions have been absolutely spot on, even if the timings have been awkward. If he leaves, I don't think it will be an absolute disaster and he would leave the club in a strong position, but I think he's probably the best chairman because he seems to have ambition for the club, something previous chairmen have been lacking. I hope this is sorted soon because the club needs stability not the chairman haggling over more dosh in public and not the manager publicly stating he'll be out the door if the chairman goes.
As for Pochettino, his comments are disappointing and he should have kept them out of the media until a time when NC's situation is resolved one way or another.
Why are things never straightforward with this lot? Every summer, some bullshit crops up.

One thing, if Tino is backing Cortese before the club, I guess it means he is happy with whatever influence Cortese would allow him in transfer choices.

Re: Cortese's future.....ANOTHER BUST-UP WITH THE LIEBHERRS??
I don't really think NC (or MP) will go anywhere. NC is unlikely to get as high an income anywhere else, plus I think he is a Saints fan. I think this is all being done to persuade the owners to make more funds available. My worry is that the lack of agreement may mean we wont sign anyone early in the transfer window and we really need new signings to be bonding and ready to play when the new season starts.
But I know nothing and have likely got it all wrong.

That is the trouble will be a lot of speculation and those "in the know" will say they know but we will just have to see how it pans out. Not impressed though by Poch sticking his oar in, his job is to manage the team and get on with preparing for Sundays game. The manager doesn't get to choose who the CE is, that is for the owners

Re: Cortese's future.....ANOTHER BUST-UP WITH THE LIEBHERRS??
How much is true and how much is sensationalist crap invented by the media who, after all, are adept at making 7 from 2 + 2? Every player 'considering his future' does NOT mean they'll walk out. Personally, I think this is nothing more than an attempt by Cortese to force the Liebherrs' hand although I am unimpressed by Pochettino's puppy dog act, in potentially following his master out of the club.

Good news indeed! Maybe this was blown out of all proportion by the meedja? Nonetheless, it's great to have the uncertainty removed as we're better off with Cortese than without him.

Good that the uncertainty has been removed and should make tomorrow a good atmosphere

I wonder if there is any truth in soton3009's comment...
'Its a deliberate leak. Cortese has 3 particular journalist friends (Neil Ashton -Daily Mail, Jim White and Ben Smith - BBC). All 3 were amongst the first to report it. Would say games being played at this stage as they wouldnt leak something if it were 100% going to happen'
A similar story went the rounds at the end of last season. Could it be that Nico is again trying to get transfer funds from the Liebherrs?
