Sarah Jayne Dunn (born 25 September 1981) is an English actress best known for playing Mandy Richardson in Hollyoaks.

Dunn was born in Leigh, Lancashire and educated at Lowton High School, excelling in drama and performing arts, and a part time career as a model. When the school changed its name and became a college for sport, Dunn returned to formally open the college.

On July 15, 2010 Dunn announced on her Twitter site that she is engaged to marry her boyfriend.

Sarah was born in Leigh, Greater Manchester. She first appeared on Channel 4's Hollyoaks in 1996, walking into the video shop in the forty-third episode. Sarah joined the show at the tender age of 14 as wannabe supermodel Mandy and quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with; She went on to be the longest standing female character in the soap's history picking up awards and nominations along the way including Best Actress, Sexiest Actress, Best dramatic scene and eventually Best exit.



After a decade of playing the role of Mandy, Sarah left Hollyoaks in 2006. Sarah has since worked on The Innocence Project, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Doctors, The Adam and Shelly show (all for the BBC), and shot three films including Northern Cowboys (a wild west comedy based in the North of England) and The Dark Knight alongside Christian Bale as Batman. Sarah was asked back by Lime Pictures for a six month stint on Hollyoaks last summer.


IN THE DARK KNIGHT

Sarah's stage debut came in the form of the hilarious comedy Boeing-Boeing, where she played the sexy ball-breaking American, Gloria, alongside Susie Blake. The production opened in Sarah's home town of Liverpool (as the final piece for the capital of Culture 2008) before departing on a nationwide tour to critical acclaim. Sarah has also been touring with The Vagina Monologues and a No 1 tour of 'When Harry met Sally' as Sally.

Sarah recently took part in Channel 4's new adrenalin filled show 'Famous and Fearless', hosted by Chris Evans, taking part in thrilling challenges against 7 other celebrities to raise money for her chosen charities.



Sarah is currently back on screen in her role as Mandy Richardson in Hollyoaks.

Sarah is an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust, Breast Cancer Campaign and Marie Curie.

When Nicole Barber Lane did this for us a few weeks ago she was asked whether she had had any embarrassing moments while filming Hollyoaks. Her reply was.....
"Yes, every week. Wind is a factor for many at Hollyoaks!! That's as much as i'm saying!"

I was 14 when I started in the show and Hollyoaks was the first professional role I had played, before that I had been involved with school productions and my local youth theatre.

I loved and still love Julie Andrews, I always wanted to be Mary Poppins and I thought she was so beautiful and ladylike with a stunning voice.

I would die to work with Johnny Depp, he is such a versatile actor and makes every role different and his own.

I enjoy them all for different reasons, comedy is so much fun and when you are working with a great cast and great scripts it's just non stop laughs from the beginning of the day to the end. Serious roles are more interesting as it gives you something to really get your teeth into and research and it's much harder work but the reward is much greater.

I salute when I see a magpie and I carry around a little trinket that was my dad's just for good luck but I'm not strict about it, if I see a magpie and don't happen to salute it wouldn't freak me out for the rest of the day, I think there are things I just do out of habit.

The storyline I remember the most is one of my first when Mandy was raped by her father, it was such a serious, strong storyline and I was very proud that the producers trusted me enough to give me such a big storyline at such a young age & the one I'm proudest of is the 'Baby Grace cot death' story, it was a tough few weeks filming really gruelling, upsetting scenes but I'm proud of how the subject was dealt with and the work that myself and Nick Pickard (Tony) did together.

Haha I don't know who's she's been working with!!!! I've fallen over a few times and broken things or dropped drinks, we work such long hours that there are bound to be lots of mishaps!

Not a football fan I'm afraid, I used to support Bolton when I was younger and I'd go to the games with my dad but I soon grew out of it in winter when it was freezing cold and my team would lose!

I've worked at the Southampton Mayflower theatre when I was touring with 'When Harry met Sally', it was a gorgeous theatre and the people were lovely, I had a fab week.
