when you started "that" mazy run, did you ever imagine it would end with a goal...

Re: I used to play for Saints
How would you of felt if your rocket shot against Arsenal had hit the back of the net on the last game at the Dell? Would you of felt guilty for stealing Le Tiss thunder?? Haha! We need a Chris Marsden in the present side, a general...you're a legend!

Chris - while kicking towards the Chapel end, you may have heard the odd shout of 'Come on Tim!' - my partner (who knows little about the great game) was only able to recognise you amongst all your teammates - although this did not extend to knowing your name. As you looked a bit like her daughter's boyfriend (Tim, obviously) this became her way of identifying you. Can I ask if this ever put you off?
Also, what went wrong in Korea - was it injury or lifestyle?
Many thanks for being a Saints legend - one we will remember for ever. Football genius!

Not possible for one or even 10 favourite memories, my whole time at southampton was fantastic, from joining when we were bottom of the table and looking doomed, to finishing in the top ten and playing in the FA Cup final (although we lost (( ) everything was fantastic, one thing that does stick out are the fans. nobody really understood the passion for southampton football club until the club slipped down the divisions. Most clubs would see their fan base dwindle away, but southamptons fans stayed and if anything increased culminating in the win at wembley where the turn out was amazing

Straight answer no ! just one of those things that happens once in a career for a player like I was. can you imagine being expected to do that all the time, like Tiss could and did

Yes and no really, I spend my time in cyprus and spain, so I am not in the uk much, obviously when something terrible happens like the passing away of Dean Richards for example, you quickly pick the phone up, but people go their own ways in life, and that is life, but as footballers we always have something in common, ie, Jason Dodd has a place near myself in Spain, I havent seen Jason for 2 years until 1 month ago, and it was as if I had seen him everyday.

I often joke with Tiss about that, honest answer, no way would I have felt guilty, but lets be honest there was no guarantee it would have gone straight anyway!! on the other side if anybody deserved to score the winning goal at the Dell it had to be Tiss, and when you watch it time and time again, he had no right to score from the position he was in, it just shows again what a great player he was.

No never got put off, if you imagine the abuse we get as players, we have to be able to shut it all out, or we would all need counselling!
Korea was a fantastic experience even though it was short, we came back early purely and simple because my wife at the time couldnt settle, she was always complaining that nobody spoke english, to which I would frequently point out it was because we were in Korea ! probably explains why she is my ex wife now ! ))

Re: I used to play for Saints
Great comments Chris. I admit I wasnt a great fan of yours when you first arrived at saints, unfairly compared you to Le Tiss, but you won me over when I realised your 5 - 10 yard passes always went to another saints player! Plus you were one of the grafters that allowed Le tiss to work his magic.
Thought you and Bridgey made a great team any thoughts on Bridgey and his recent years where he has earnt shedloads but seemed content to sit on the bench?
Love spain by the way though go to Costa del sol area, hope you keep that shiney top of your covered from the sun!!
