Have we dropped too many points already?
Have we dropped too many points already?
What I find frustrating is that, despite having - on paper - the best team in L1, we are unable to get consistent runs going and we drop silly points to teams we shou;dn't. We have had a good patch until last week, no denying that, but in order to get promoted automatically we need to keep the runs going and not throw away silly points like last week and today and that's even more important considering our awful start to the season. It's even more frustrating when you see how Bournemouth, with a thin squad, are keeping their run going and have gone above us again. Every time we think 'Good, maybe they'll run out of steam now' (for whatever reason - transfer embargoes/threadbare squad/player x leaving/player y leaving/manager leaving) they don't. Brighton slipped up today and Udders only got a draw, and we have patently failed to capitalise on it.
The season's just over half complete and we are still at the right end of the table but I fear that we might have lost too many silly points already to claim automatic promotion and, as I said on the Tranmere post match reaction I really don't trust us not to sod up the playoffs. I'd love to be wrong though, on both counts.
