Re: Alex Chamberlain
According to The Star, Chamberlain will go to Arsenal for £10m. Arsenal will only pay £6 - 7m, the rest will be in add-ons.

The Mirror says it will be early July ahead of Arsenal Far-East tour.

Re: Alex Chamberlain
Rumours suggest he's having/had a medical at Arsenal today, or within the next couple of days depending on where you read it. Saints are to apparently get £7 million up front with another £5 million to be paid later, depending on appearances, add-ons, that sort of thing. I have a feeling Saints won't be seeing that £5 million for a while, as Chamberlain's arse warms the bench for a couple of years.
The press have been determined to sell him for us, looks like they're going to get their way if the rumours are to be believed. But at least Saints can strengthen with that money and the tedium of the whole Chamberlain is-he-going-or-isn't-he? affair will be over.

Re: Alex Chamberlain
It's now on the BBC: "Southampton winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain undergoing medical at Arsenal" in one of their rolling banners at the top of the football page. Oh well, that's his dad's pension funded nicely then.

Re: Alex Chamberlain
Done deal, for a club record transfer fee, according to the OS.
If the £12 million + £3 million rumour that's doing the rounds is correct, then we've got the better end of the deal

With the press association reporting Arsenal paying 12m upfront for Alex Chamberlain, Arsenal have not yet finished their dealings with Southampton.
It is rumoured that Arsene Wenger is about to splash another 15m on a set of magical beans that in the words of Nicola Cortese "will grow into world class footballers."
Arsenal have made this their top priority for the remainder of the window."
Had to laugh..........

Re: Alex Chamberlain
People have been slagging off his dad, Mark Chamberlain, and Chambo Snr can easily be accused of greed but he also could have made Alex stay at the Sk8s or go to another club and they could have been the recipients of £15 million instead of Saints. Instead of which, Saints are now a lot better off and can put the £15 million to good use, whatever the good use may be. That's not to say I like what Chamberlain Snr did or how he has seemingly engineered a move away for the kid, but I think Saints have come out of it very well.
Steve Claridge (much maligned by Saints fans, simply for being a former skate, but I think he's pretty fair and even-handed, tbh) believes AC should have stayed at Saints longer as he is not ready to be at Arsenal.

Re: Alex Chamberlain
I wonder what Chamberlain is thinking right now? He came on as a sub in an Arsenal side hammered 8-2 at ManYoo this afternoon.

Re: Alex Chamberlain
I was thinking the same. More what was he thinking after 80 minutes 7 - 2 down and still not getting a game! Real danger Wenger will destroy him along with some of the other youngsters, the ex charlton defender's confidence must be totally shot.
