Re: Alex Chamberlain
Echo has been pretty useless on this subject, Saints dont need to move fast as if they go slow then no deal. If clubs want Oxo we tell them price, loan back and sell on clause. If they want him those are terms and with loan back no rush.

LOL, it is. That's why I posted what I posted, then reacted to Decorator's Radio, rather than let it slide.
Anyway, I guess we're just going to have to get used to the fact that a) he's probably going, if not this week, then in the summer and b) the rags (of whom, the Echo is about the worst) always trying to sell our players for us.

Suspect everyone watching everyone, Transfer window is a pain as deals completed last minute. Still as far as chamberlain is concerned no news is good news.

Re: Alex Chamberlain
This from Sky Sports:
Skysports.com understands Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will not be leaving Southampton this month after deals with his suitors stalled.
The 17-year-old has been the subject of enquiries from Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Oxlade-Chamberlain had looked set to join former Saints trainee Theo Walcott at the Emirates earlier this month until Manchester United firmed up their interest.
However, sources close to the player have now indicated a deal to sign the player has stalled after it looked like United would gazump their rivals with a late bid.

According to the BBC:
From BBC Sport's David Ornstein on Twitter: "Unless big late offer for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, he's staying at Southampton. He trained today & senior source tells me club NOT in any talks."

Re: Alex Chamberlain
Typical Arsenal fans rubbish. Fact is they never came in with a bid that came anywhere near saints valuation which is why Cortese ignored them.

According to the News of the screws, Arsenal are having difficulty agreeing a deal to sign Chamberlain from Saints as we are demanding a 40% sell-on clause.

Re: Alex Chamberlain
In which case Alf, Arsenal can stick their "deal" where the sun don't shine! No doubt speculation will start again once season has finished as no match reports to fill the back pages and lazy fat journalists will make it up as they always do.

Re: Alex Chamberlain
Read the piece and was not impressed at all. Wish the bloody paper would leave it alone.
Re: Alex Chamberlain
have to agree annoying article, not particulalrly good fatherly advice to join a club who have failed to win any trophies for several years despite the players and money available, no defence, a manager who refuses to ever see a foul by his team and by everyone elses view set walcotts career back badly. Still the clubbing scene is good in London and Theo fits in with all the star community.
If he genuinely wants to improve his career he should learn his trade in the championship with saints but if has to move he should go to Utd where Ferguson will give him an education. Perhaps not such a good idea as would probably get loaned back to Pboro!!

Re: Alex Chamberlain
Hope Mr Chamberlain snr was watching the England game yesterday as a example of how a career can be stalled by signing for Arsenal. Thought Walcott was awful, seemed frightened to take on a full back who had no pace, his final ball was poor, never looked a goal scoring threat and his first touch poor. Backed out of any 50/50 ball and surprised he stayed on the pitch as long as he did. Such a disappointment when you consider his potential when he left saints

Re: Alex Chamberlain
According to the Daily Express (so it's probably nonsense) Manchester United are going to try and tempt Saints into parting with Chamberlain in return for Gabriel Obertan or Wes Brown plus cash for him. Personally, I would say 'yes please' to that deal except maybe Obertan and Brown won't want to step down to the Championship.

If he's going I hope it's done soon and that there is money paid up front in time for us to get some decent players in for pre-season training!
