PUNCHEON OUT ON LOAN!!........BUT SHOULD WE THINK AGAIN???
"Millwall are bringing Southampton’s former Plymouth midfielder Jason Puncheon into the New Den on loan until 3 January.
The 24-year-old joined ‘The Saints’ in January on a three-and-a-half-year year contract and has made 36 league appearances for Southampton, including 17 in the current campaign.
Puncheon, who was born in Croydon, has been a regular in the Saints line-up this season until losing his place in the team under new boss Nigel Adkins.
He started his career at MK Dons and played for Barnet before joining Plymouth in June 2008. He can play in midfield or attack but will be expected to play further forward at Millwall with the club currently without strikers Theo Robinson, Kevin Lisbie and Neil Harris."
A bit of a surprise? Means we have one less option.

Re: PUNCHEON OUT ON LOAN!!........BUT SHOULD WE THINK AGAIN???
Bit of a surprise has agreed to let him out on loan now with only 3 strikers as would have thought would have wanted as back up which implies to me Adkins is not impressed, maybe with his attitude. Has been a big disappointment this season with only occasional flashes of ability and doesn't seem keen on doing his defensive duties.

Bit of an odd one, this, but maybe he wants out, or he's been sent out on loan to get first team football in order to try and get his place back.

I am wondering if maybe there is a personality clash......perhaps he reacted badly to being dropped.
Re: PUNCHEON OUT ON LOAN!!........BUT SHOULD WE THINK AGAIN???
I am thinking he may be sick of the fans getting on his back and has said he wants to go.

Re: PUNCHEON OUT ON LOAN!!........BUT SHOULD WE THINK AGAIN???
Think he will bring in a striker unless he feels Doble is ready to step up. Problem is like with Bignall the clubs loaning them out want guarantees they will start and that is not something Adkins is willing to do, nor should he when our own players have to fight for a place.
Convinced there has been a clash with Puncheon as was picked for first few matches under Adkins and if his attitude off the pitch is like it is on the pitch, not willing to get stuck in, can see why they may have fallen out.

Apparently, during the post-match interview after he'd scored for Millwall, Puncheon said something along the lines of 'it's nice to play for a manager who wants you'. To me that says he'd fallen out with Nigel Adkins. It's a childish reaction, though.
Like St Mike says, I hope we can get a striker in on loan. The Rickie Lambert goal machine's broken/depressed/abducted by aliens/whatever and he needs replacing, even temporarily.

Could be a really childish comment now Millwall have signed McCoid and Jackett has added simply one game so still has a lot to prove!

SHOULD WE KEEP PUNCHEON??
Puncheon has clicked in his loan spell at Millwall.........scoring 3 in Saturday's game that saw George Burley subsequently lose his job. Can Saints afford to let him go on a permanent transfer? If he came back to St Marys could he be persuaded to show us the same commitment?

we would be mad to sell one of our best players, especially now hes in such good form!! Millwall fighting their way into the championship playoffs, and Punch has been scoring all their goals, so hes a proven championship player, isn't that what we are after in the transfer window? enough said.. Recall please Nigel.

Re: PUNCHEON OUT ON LOAN!!........BUT SHOULD WE THINK AGAIN???
Apparently played his last game for Millwall and back with us. Millwall waiting for us to get back to them.
Clealry he has done well at Millwall but think something has gone on at club which is why he was loaned out originally. Will be interesting if Pardew comes in for him, might get more money and Puncheon will jump at the chance despite Millwall being "his club".
I think Adkins has a replacement lined up and when complete Puncheon will go. Despite his good form lately if he doesnt want to play for us, and wants to go to Millwall hard to keep him and sure if we do he wont play the same for us.

I am sure I read somewhere that Puncheon won't be released until we know for sure that Chamberlain is staying......
Re: PUNCHEON OUT ON LOAN!!........BUT SHOULD WE THINK AGAIN???
South London Press website today..
MILLWALL fear they have been priced out of a move for Southampton winger Jason Puncheon.
Negotiations with the Saints over a permanent deal for the 24 year-old resumed after Monday's draw with Derby, but the South coast club are demanding a fee that, if paid, would break the Lions' transfer record - which currently stands at £800,000.
And after Puncheon's hat-trick against Crystal Palace on New Year's Day, Premier League duo Newcastle and Blackpool could be tempted to make a move for the Croydon-born midfielder.
With Southampton on secure financial footing and under no pressure to sell, Kenny Jackett faces being sucked into a bidding war that could surpass the £1million mark - a price he would be unwilling to pay.

Re: PUNCHEON OUT ON LOAN!!........BUT SHOULD WE THINK AGAIN???
According to Sky TV:
Southampton winger Jason Puncheon could be set for a move to the Premier League, skysports.com understands.
The 24-year-old has just completed a loan spell at Millwall and he was particularly impressive for Kenny Jackett's side.
Millwall are now desperately trying to negotiate a new loan for Puncheon - who scored five goals in seven appearances for The Lions.
However, Southampton are now fielding enquiries from a host of clubs from both the Premier League and the Championship.
The likes of Wigan, Bolton, West Ham, Swansea, Portsmouth, Leicester and Middlesbrough are all believed to be keeping tabs on his situation.

Portsmouth? That cheating shambles of a club should be using their kids and recalling their loans, not 'keeping tabs' on the likes of Puncheon.

THREE CHAMPIONSHIP clubs have joined the race for Southampton winger Jason Puncheon, after Millwall had two bids for his services turned down this week.
Puncheon returned to St. Mary’s on Tuesday having completed a six-week loan spell at the Den, during which he became a fans’ favourite by scoring a hat-trick against local rivals Crystal Palace last weekend.

Re: PUNCHEON OUT ON LOAN!!........BUT SHOULD WE THINK AGAIN???
Apparently Puncheon was left out of the side today because he is not 'mentally right'. If that is the case, I hope that he's got rid of a.s.a.p. as he's deadweight and if he's refusing to play (which is what I am reading between the lines) then I hope he's not being paid. Completely unprofessional.

Re: PUNCHEON OUT ON LOAN!!........BUT SHOULD WE THINK AGAIN???
This is exactly the type of behaviour I feared would come from Puncheon and disrupts the team spirit in the camp. With no Lallana we needed his skills and for him not be "mentally right" unacceptable. He also "wasn't on the bus" (Adkins words) for the away game at Oldham. Looks like he has decided he is going to dll everything he can to get a move so think its fair to say he will be gone at end of week but will be to whoever offers the most. Cant help thinking Millwall are also behind the latest tantrum so they can get him on the cheap.

It's probably why he's had so many clubs in his career to date. It's a shame as he is undoubtedly talented but it's wasted because he's a sulky little tosser.

We should of just sold him last week. The board, management and fans all know he doesn't wanna be here. Through trying to be greedy the board have possibly upset team morale. Accept 300k, and get Woolford in.

Rumour has it that Puncheon was told he'd be on the bench, so he threw a strop and refused to travel. If this is true then he is a first class twat and should be got rid of.

Hope the club fine him for going into strop for not starting, heard that from another source. At least a weeks wages and then loan him to a club in Div 2 for rest of season then sell him in the summer. OK being as petty as Puncheon but most footballers are a breed apart. Come on Pardew come in with a £500k bid and I will drive him to Newcastle for you.
