Dagenham midfielder Harlee Dean looks set to leave the club and could join Southampton after a successful trial with the Saints.

Dean, 18, who spent time on loan at Grays last season, has already rejected the offer of a new contract with the Daggers.

The youngster got his name on the scoresheet as Southampton cruised to a 4-1 friendly victory over Winchester last week before featuring in the clash against Havant & Waterlooville, and he will now be hoping to earn himself a deal with the club.

Daggers manager John Still told the Barking and Dagenham Post: "He's out of contract and he's under 24. We've made him an offer, which he rejected and he's seeing what other options are out there for him. If he wants to go then I want him to go."

Saints currently have out of contract Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Harley Deen on trial at the club and are exploring the options of adding him to the squad.




Certainly they would be buying potential rather than experience and the 18 year old will be one for the future, but early indications are that he might just be worth a punt.

Last season he only made one fleeting 8 minute cameo appearance off the bench for D & R and was loaned out to non league Grays to give him experience but the Essex club clearly feel he has potential and had offered him a new contract.

Deen though has so far turned that down and joined Saints on a short trial, if he were to sign on at SMS then due to the fact he is under 24, Saints would have to stump up a transfer fee to Dagenham & Redbridge.

Going by the reports on the OS he is doing well.
