SOUTHAMPTON TEAM MANAGER
This game is a bit more complicated than some of the others but I think it would be fun so please have a go....
STAGE 1: MAKING MONEY (imaginary money of course)
Choose the Saints players you think will score in each game. If you choose the player who scores our first goal you will receive £2million, if you choose a player who scores our second or subsequent goal you will receive £1million, if you choose a player who does not score for us you will lose £500thousand. You can choose as many players as you like in each match, but be careful because you will lose £500k for each player not scoring.
Example..... Say, you choose Lambert, Lallana and Connolly, Saints win 3-0 with goals from Lambert first, then Connolly and then Lambert again. You will win £2m for Lambert's first goal, £1m for Connolly's goal, £1m for Lambert's other goal and lose £500k because Lallana did not score. Overall you will win £3.5million to carry forward to the next match or spend as you wish.
STAGE 2: SPENDING MONEY
The money you win is for spending on players to build a team. I shall shortly list the players to choose from and how much they will cost. They will all be past or present Saints players and I am intending to place Le Tissier, Channon and Paine at £10million each and scale down all other players fees from that starting point.
The idea is that you should build a team of 11, being a goalkeeper and 10 outfield players As soon as the first 5 people have completed their teams, they will have to decide the positions and formation in which they wish their team to play. I shall then ask Matt and Gerry (and any other ex Saints who may by then have registered) if they will be good enough to judge whose team is best.
It is therefore important to weigh up whether you should be saving up money to buy those players you consider to be best.....or buying what you can afford quickly to be sure to be one of the first 5 to finish!!
It will be a question of first come first served, ie. when someone has bought Le Tissier no-one else can buy him.
First match home to MK Dons on Saturday.....

Re: SOUTHAMPTON TEAM MANAGER
Well here we go, here are the players available and the prices you must pay for them. I am sure some are over-priced and others may be bargains............but I think that will be part of the fun in deciding who to buy.
The prices are supposed to be based on the worth of the player at the time he was a Saint, for instance Shearer's price is based upon his time at the Dell and not at Newcastle. Likewise, the final judging will be based upon your players' ability at the time they were Saints.
If you can think of other players you would like to see included, please let me know in the next week and I shall try to include them.

That's five of us so far, hope we get a few more to make it competitive!! I'd like to see 8 or 10 of us doing it and then the race to be in the first five to complete a team would be good.

Put me down for Lambert & Lallana. Saints will win 2 - 1 (I know you don't need to know that but if it happens you will all think I am a genius!)

You would be laughing because those forecasting players to score will lose £500k for each.
