It was very good, the best Saints have played all season. Mills coming on for Lallana.
Time's up.

Re: OLDHAM ON SATURDAY
Sorry I missed most of the game. Most importantly we won and are now on the climb.
Re: OLDHAM ON SATURDAY
I think it is now safe to say that we have turned that corner and are on the up.

Pardew could be in with a shout for League 1 Manager of the Month?

Re: OLDHAM ON SATURDAY
Beat MK Dons and we will beat Leyton. AP will just have to keep winning so we can laugh at the manager of the month loses next game/s tag.
Re: OLDHAM ON SATURDAY
This is definitely the most optimistic I have felt about Saints in a long time. One thing's for sure, we will not be swapping places with Bournemouth next season. Sure, we will probably have the odd blips and poor form but I fully expect us to finish comfortably mid table or - if I am feeling really optimistic - the play offs: we might just nip in there and grab the last play off spot.

Re: OLDHAM ON SATURDAY
The way this league is shaping up at the moment it could take a low points haul to gain a playoff space. Top teams are losing points to each other week on week.
Re: OLDHAM ON SATURDAY
Simples dad, we just keep winning and we go up.

Re: OLDHAM ON SATURDAY
Like others feeling most optimistic for some time. Lambert and Connolly up front will get us goals in every game, Jaidi and Trotman in centre of defence are solid, Davis in goal odd moments but great he is with us and Hammond and Lallana in midfield we have a core through the centre of team which means for me we have the set up to win most of our games. Mid table definite for me but if we can extend the winning streak to 9 out of 10 form then think we might be able to get to 6th spot.

Re: OLDHAM ON SATURDAY
If we can extend the winning streak we will rise quite rapidly. Add to the possibilities the other side of the coin. We keep winning and other teams become more and more frightened of us. That will play into our hands even more as they will be a lot less attack minded. Beat MK and Leyton and I will start believing in automatic promotion. Beat Charlton in next round of the cup and i will start looking for somewhere to stay overnight on wembley day.
Re: OLDHAM ON SATURDAY
you're startin to sound like me now.
must admit i'm really pleased to see southampton climbin the table.
i've never had owt to do with your club or city (except catching the ferry to the iow in 2004) , but since i been comin on ere i've started watchin out for your results.
also , i dont like to see a team get stripped of points - it's so unfair on the supporters.

Re: OLDHAM ON SATURDAY
I tend to agree with you there Digger, point deductions are not the best way of hitting the people who transgress. Lowe and his cronies should have been the ones held to task and not the club.
Having said that though, it would not have been fair on the other clubs who have been punished this way. Luton have been dropped down to the non league and it looks like another team is going the same way. There just has to be a fairer way to treat the clubs involved.

Re: OLDHAM ON SATURDAY
The powers-that-be need to rethink this whole points deduction thing. The only people who suffer are the fans while the people who have got the clubs in the mess get away scot-free, albeit minus a few quid (give or take a couple of million). I think Lowelife lost a couple of million when SLH/SFC went bust in April but, unfortunately, that red-faced piece of crap is not in penury as a result.
The Premier League were happy enough to bend over backwards to accommodate the Skates recently while the Football League just kicks its clubs while they are down. Cynics might say well in the case of the EPL, their attitude is 'our clubs don't have money issues' just in case it reflects badly on them, hence their eagerness to help out the likes of the Sk8s, but the FL's approach is just heavy-handed, totally crass and benefits no-one. There needs to be a new system in place to punish the men/women who have mismanaged the clubs and not the clubs (i.e. the fans) themselves.

Re: OLDHAM ON SATURDAY
Far , far , FAR too much money going to the "big and fashionable" clubs in this country.
The rest can just go rot.
That's what the attitude seems to be.
i thought it was disgusting what they did to you last season - cant remember all the details now , but wasn't it along the lines of : if you got enough points to stay up you'd lose 10 points THEN , but if you went down then it was carried on to the next season instead ?
It seems that when a club (outside the premier) needs help - all they get is kicked in the teeth

Yep. That's about it. It's heavy handed and stupid. We achieved the (I think!) probably unique feat of effectively being relegated twice last season. If we had enough points to stay up we'd have had the points taken away then and gone down courtesy of the FL, which would have happened if we hadn't done it on the last day in the time-honoured tradition of being crap. So we were buggered whichever way.

Re: OLDHAM ON SATURDAY
Lowelife didn't lose as much as some think he did. His shares were bought on the cheap through the dealings og guy Askham if my memory serves me well.
Not that it matters as it was him and the rest of the board who should have been made to pay up.
There was also a hell of a lot of share holders who only had a few shares and they were treated as fools as well. All in all the FL has had a lot of time to sort out the mess and I would be surprised if nobody elses club doesn't go into admin before the season finishes. Then what, the same over the top you will do as we say or die from the FL. It still doesn't sir right even now we are nearly out of the mess Lowe put us in.
Someone somewhere must be able to find a way forward for the clubs who face the same troubles in the future.
