WHY oh why did Pardew NOT make subs BEFORE the last few minutes? This is much better - when it is far too late.

Re: Swindon away 18/08/09
It would have been nice to have been able to take some positives from the game. Driving early to Swindon I was full of optimism and even managed to park next to the ground. Not many grounds you can do that at without worrying about your car. The atmosphere before the game was good and the chip shop oppits side of the magic roundabout was excellent.
The game began and we very quickly knew our fate. A goal down and blatantly in need of reinorcements we were resigned to a night of extreme hardship. Still, we don't seem capable of defending at free kicks or corners. The time has come when we just have to do something about the rubbish playing for us.
Davis again mam of the match -7
Harding very close though beaten a few times he was by far the best outfield player. - 6.5
Thomas does not instill confidence and we are left wondering how long before he gives away a penalty and is booked. - 3
Lancashire just isn't ready to take on the responsibilty and needs to strengthen himself urgently if he wants to make it. - 4
James was often caught out of position. - 4
Mellis showed glimpses of attacking intent but is another lightweight midfielder. - 5.5
Wotton is lucky that the ref allowed him to persistantly shove 2 handed any opponent out of harms way in our box. He is going to get himself booked ,, like Thomas, in more games than not or sent off. - 2
Schneidelin is just not strong enough to run a game. Fancy dan. - 5
Lallana has to be rested and told to toughen up. - 5
Paterson is not a winger and was no threat to the Swindon defence - 4
Lambert missed the best chance we had and seemed woefully short of power. No service and not willing to work. - 5
AP seemed to be totally lost and had no way to improve the way we were playing. His starting 11 gaves us cause for concern and he must be wondering what the helll he has let himself in for. - 3
To make the night even worse I had a 15 mile detour on reaching Salisbury as the road in was being tarmacked and no warning signs were there to warn us. The best news of the day was the signing of Hammond from Colchester. Wonder whose place he will take.
