Re: Saints V Ipswich Match Thread
Can we find a left back better than Mills? Though we are playing well going forward I think that we need to give a genuine defender a chance to shine. Mills was on the bench and he can't enjoy seeing our defence being cut open time and time again.Good for Davis as he is getting plenty of practice.
Looking at the goals I noticed Dyer wandering aimlessly behind their attacker as he was able to cross for the 2nd Ipswich goal. He never strikes me as a worker and must surely be overlooked for Barnsley. Now this is a game where we do have to get the 3 points. Surman scored a good goal but he is not a left back. He is turned too easily and once beaten doesn't seem able at times to know what to do. He is a good midfield player let's see him play where he is best.
Give us a good crowd, dry weather and a win. Not too much to ask for surely.

Re: Saints V Ipswich Match Thread
Hello here is my opinion on the game
Well to put it simply this was the worst we'd played all season and we were extremely lucky to come away with a point. Surman's goal was a fluke and Peckhart's was a great finish (that lad clearly knows where the goal is - keep him in the team) but he only ended up with the ball because of several mistakes in the Ipswich defence. For most of the game though we were dominated and the passing, movement, freedom confidence that we've seen all season simply wasn't there. Jack Cork and Chris Perry played well at the back but got some rough treatment from such big strikers. The full-backs on the other hand were appalling. James was losing the ball a lot and Surman, who is usually such a great passer, just passed the ball to them whenever he got it and got caught out time and time again. His positioning was terrible for the whole match. Gillett and Wotton were passing recklessly and had no control of the midfield. Dyer never used his brain and had no end product and also wasted a great chance when he was one-on one. McGoal lost the ball too many times and struggled to get into the game, but made one or two good runs. John did nothing. Lallana was the only spark in our attack. When Schneiderlin came on he made such a difference, no-one else in the team has any composure on the ball and whenever any other player got the ball they just passed it back to Ipswich. Both the full-backs were completely out of their depth. BWP added a bit of purpose when he came on and went on some good runs.
Ratings:
Davis 8
James 5
Perry 6
Cork 7
Surman 5 (would be 4 if he didn't score)
Gillett 5
Wotton 5
Dyer 5
McGoldrick 6
Lallana 7
John 5
Subs:
Schneiderlin 7
Peckhart 7
BWP 7

Re: Saints V Ipswich Match Thread
Surman is an attacking midfield player. We do possess alternatives.
