Over the last few days there has been talk about Sky Sports' Graeme Bailey's supposed tweet that Saints were on the verge of a signing that would 'rock English football.'

A fan tonight sent Bailey this tweet....

Hi Graeme,any chance of telling us Saints fans about the identity of this special player we were looking to buy? cheers!

Bailey's reply (timed at 10:42pm tonight) reads....

No, interest still there but nobody knows anything so I cant let it out. Might not happen but still a chance.

yet again another drawn out transfer saga, just would like us to get in and make a deal. Appreciate dont want to pay over the odds but we do have a trackk record of dragging these things out.

I agree. I wish Saints would just get on with things. I appreciate that the powers-that-be at the club like to conduct transfers behind the scenes, but I get the feeling they are too slow and miss out as a consequence. Reading just get on with it.
And, while I am on the subject, we need a couple of proven experienced prem-quality players not just 'promising-looking ones for the future'. So far we have S. Davis as our sole experienced signing. A Prem-quality defender wouldn't go amiss.

Agree about a bit of experience, Stephens and Shaw will probably need at least another season, Clyne is another youngster if we get him as is Rodrigues. With Cork, Schneiderlin, Lallana looks good for the future but need some premiership experience to guide them through what will be a tough first season back in premiership.
