LEYTON ORIENT POST-MATCH REACTION Empty Re: LEYTON ORIENT POST-MATCH REACTION

Some Orient fan pitched up on here last week and reckoned they'd surprise us. They did, but only because we had an off-day as regards scoring although, to be fair they did defend well. If things had gone our way we'd have won this 6-2, or more, but we couldn't score until late on. Still one point is better than none and we came back from behind which is an improvement on last season.

Oh yeah, Antonio's loan must be up now, but AP HAS to get his loan extended. Please...

Off topic: Wigan must have been feeling sorry for the sk8s, they lost 4-0. Shocked

He does seem to make an impact when he comes on. A perfect young player who can only get better. So we now have two loanies that we need to try to hang on to.

LEYTON ORIENT POST-MATCH REACTION Empty Re: LEYTON ORIENT POST-MATCH REACTION

Just got back from Orient, feeling pretty good after being 2 0 down to come away with a point and did think it would be one of those days. Overall we had lots of pocession and should have have made more of that but for some inidividual mistakes and again poor refereeing.

Went behind in first minute, porr free kick give away by Wotton who didnt have a good game but seemed to be trying to fill Hammonds normal role who had an off day no doubt due to injury. Davis was bit flat footed as header from penalty spot should be saved. Rest of first half was us pressing but trying to be to elaborate. Waigo flattered to deceive some good runs down right but final ball was poor. Second half more of the same and we should have had penalty when skate ref ingnores they go down field and go 2 up!

One thing Pardew has installed is a real dont give up attitude. Antonio made an impact, again there are times when he doesnt seem to know what to do next but he has real pace and strength and with some good coaching will only improve. Connelly impressed when he came on as held the ball well linked with other players and unlucky not to score the winner. Although 2 down we knew if we scored one we would get something out of the game.

Lambert yet again delivered and on the tube home the only song you could hear was Ricky Lambert,da da da da Ricky Lambert. First goal well taken, second unstoppable, was at the end and still didnt see it before it hit back of the net. We had chances to win but at the end of the day glad to get something out of the game. My view of each player

Davis 6 (Not his best game)
James 7 (did okay but please get someone else to take corners, we must have had 18 never looked like leading to a goal)
Jaidi 8 Won every thing in the air totally dominant
Trotman 6 bit dodgy on a couple occassions
Harding 8 had a good game and got down well on left in second half
Waigo 6 Good and bad
Schneiderlin 6 flashes but had chances to shoot in first half never took
Lallana 7 better second half but you cannot fault his effort and commitment
Hammond 6 poor game by his standards and clearly effected by his injury, credit to him for lasting 90 min but not his normal tempo.
Wotton 6 poor tackle gave away free kick which lead to 1 st goal and ended up to far forward which is always scary
Lambert 9 won lots of balls first half but didnt look like scoring, second half immense

Subs

Antonio 7 did create chances when he came on and will get better with some coaching. Seems more of a threat than Waigo at present.
Connelly 7 unlucky with late chance and made some intelligent link play with Lambert/Lallana and Scheiderlin.

Think the players knew they had to get something for the fans, nearly half the ground Saints fans. With this commitment from Players and fans will continue to go forward.

Good report Matty. Sounded on the radio as if Trotman had a poor game by his standards.

I've just watched the Saints highlights on the Football League show (on BBC iPlayer). The Trotman own goal was a real belter, I don't think he could have scored a better one if he tried Shocked ! Ricky L's finishes were both superb, especially the second.
The never give up attitude that AP has instilled is what pleases me most about the Saints this season. Last season the players would have caved in completely, strolling round looking forlorn before a token too late effort in the last ten minutes. This season is an entirely different story.

Saints highlights are 44 minutes, 34 seconds in

Amazing in a game of so many attacks you get to see about 10 seconds on the TY show! Certainly Trotman didnt have his best game and showed that he has a lot to learn but is young and will benefit by being alongside Jaidi. I would be surprised if Hammond plays Friday in the cup. He was clearly off the pace yesterday and feelinh the injury. Personally I would rest him for next league match and give Mellis another opportunity.

There is a real team spirit in the team and no matter who had a good or poor game you couldnt fault any of them for their effort.
