well unless Hughes adopts a different approach I don't think so. Would want likes of Ward Prowse, Romeau Targett all starting so we are hard to break down with intention to hit them on the break. Don't see him doing that so a 2 - 0 defeat

Well getting a point in the current position is not that bad a result though lack of a decent striker up front probably cost us all 3 points. From highlights both Austin and Gabbadini had great chances to score and Armstrong should have also done better . Not sure if an injury to Romeau but cannot understand why not in the squad when the only player to emerge with any credit from the Chelsea game. Hojberg seemed to have a decent game with a couple of decent efforts but the formation of Redmond, Austin and Ings tells me that Hughes will never learn, as far as up front for this saints squad less is more. Drop Austin, play Redmond as a striker (I know a big risk in that) and get a another player in midfield playing behind front 2.

Although Stephens and Hoedt supposedly did well not convinced that is our best CB pairing but looks like will always be Hoedt plus 1 with Hughes. Pleased Stephens had a decent game but so did Bedanek against Chelsea in first half and dropped.

Newcastle will be a 6 pointer, not at all confident as they were all over Brighton but had no luck. Knowing our luck that will change next weekend!

In the highlights programme I saw Ings was hardly mentioned and he seemed to have a much quieter game than usual.

One bright spot so far this season, at least we seem to have 2 keepers who have been playing well
