PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Most years there are 1 or 2 stand-out players but this season I am struggling to think of someone worthy of the honour.
Can users of Southampton World list 5 players of choice in order of preference? Number 1 in the list will score 5 points, number 2 will score 4 points....and so on down to 1 point for number 5. I will add the points together and the player with most points will be the site's Player of the Season. In the event of a tie I shall ask Matty to make the final decision as, of those of us who have been regulars on Southampton World through the season, Matty has been to most games.
And now I need to think of 5 players deserving of points.......

Re: PLAYER OF THE SEASON
1. Alex McCarthy. Stepped up big time when called into action! Some world-class saves! Biggest reason we will stay up.
2. Manolo Gabbiadini. Has not been given too much time on the pitch, but yet again scored some vital goals. Against Swansea the biggest goal of the season!
3. Charlie Austin. Was injured more often than not, but he is (with Gabbi) the only natural goal scorer we got.
4. Dusan Tadic. Was mainly garbage in 30 first games and by then, I never ever believed he will be in my list. But shoved character and was one of the most important players in last games.
5. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Maybe he is not yet PL standard, but at least he gave it all on the pitch!

Re: PLAYER OF THE SEASON
1st by the proverbial country mile has to be Alex McCarthy.
Why it took so long for him to be given a chance I shall never understand as Forster was a diabolical bag of nerves and error strewn performances said he should have been dropped much earlier.
2nd will surprise a few but I select Jan Bednarek. For a player that was supposed to be unable to head the ball, and would easily be out muscled according to some in the know Saints fans he has done really well in extremely difficult circumstances. He has already begun issuing directives to other players and shows he has immense promise. I do hope that he stays.
3rd is Tadic even after some atrocious performances until recent times when it really mattered.
4th Maya Yoshida for always giving his all and at times being the sole defender to earn his corn.

Player of the season
1. Alex McCarthy, for saving our season by keeping us in games we would have lost with FF.
2. Dusan Tadic, for creating and scoring some vital goals, mainly after Mark Hughes took over.
3.Charlie Austin, one of our few natural goalscorers, hard working and a real character.
4. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, for showing heart, character and working his socks off.
5. Manolo Gabbiadini, for THAT goal against Swansea, that saved our season.

Re: PLAYER OF THE SEASON
1. McCarthy for coming in and showing a goalie is allowed to come off his line, and catch or punch the ball. Should have played earlier.
2. Yoshida still makes those odd mistakes but has given his all for the club, genuinely seems to have affection for the club.
3. Hojberg again has showed plenty of commitment when the going got tough.
4. Tadic while he has been poor for much of the season his 2 goals against Bournemouth were priceless and think gave the spark for the run in.
5. Romeau while a poor season by his standard he was often left isolated in midfield due to tactics and gave plenty of effort.
Well that was a struggle thinking of 5 players and shows how poor the competition when I end up with Tadic in there!

Re: PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Come on Pete get off the fence!
Mind you just see a video of three great saves by McCarthy, Bournemouth he saved us 2 points, Everton he saved us a point and Swansea he saved us 2 points and more! Not trying to influence or anything, just realised how grateful I am McCarthy was in goal and not Forster

Re: PLAYER OF THE SEASON
After making such an impression with Saints, it's amazing that Bertrand has not been called up for the World Cup then!!)
