From Zoe Ball.....
evening Delboy
ha - thank you for your question...
yes we did have a pole in our house(!?) back in the day, to be honest the boys were always much better on it than the girls, i always ended up nastily bruised after attempting anything fancy. We're not really the party folk we once were in our younger days, what with middle age and kids, so its been taken down and put in the garage where its gathering dust. If you know any fireman short of a pole....

i hate my voice, i never listen back to my shows as I find myself quite annoying ha. As for my singing voice, lordy - its not pretty. i once sang Foo Fighters songs all night on karaoke until someone played it back to me, awful.... i'm terrible at those xbox karaoke games.... although my Enough is Enough double act with my friend Caroline is quite something.
sometimes on the radio you cant help but sing a long with the end of records, like Steve Wright but he can sing - sort of.
Much love, Zoe x

Re: STAR BAR HIGHLIGHTS
Beatle Saint - would i be a fan of Norms if he wasnt my fella - well I loved the Housemartins and used to listen to a cassette of their album on my first walkman that was the size of a brick and if someone had told me I'd marry the bass player from the funny video I'd have laughed. I liked Beats International and Freakpower and did love his early FatBoy Slim stuff so probably I'd be a fan yes - he's a very handsome and clever boy and he cooks, so I'm a very lucky lass! great question thank you x
Re: STAR BAR HIGHLIGHTS
My fave telly would be Soccer am - love Max and helen, Tubes and Rocket - makes me die laughing, its the closest we get to Saturday morning telly and love the clips and amazing Teckers... i get back into bed to watch it with Norm and the kids when i get home from my radio show on Saturdays.
Re: STAR BAR HIGHLIGHTS
Zippy - Hello Zippy!!!! Any embarrassing moments in my career - plenty, swearing on air by mistake was pretty bad, I was in so much trouble. The actor Mathew Modine carrying my down the stairs of the Big Breakfast House after my shoe broke was pretty special, he tried to kiss me as a joke and I fell about all flustered. Meeting David Beckham and Alex Ferguson was up there too... I said such daft things.... what a numpty. Thanks for the question!
Re: STAR BAR HIGHLIGHTS
Saint Paddy - hello Sir. How are you? yes the swearing , there were actually 2 times i slipped up, one was describing a band i didnt think were so great but i didnt want to be mean so I was procrastinating and oops it slipped out, the other time was during a radio sketch and i had to honk a horn in place of a swear word but of course being the blonde that I am I honked the horn and then said the swear word. I felt terrible but luckily Terry Veneables swore that week on telly too so I got away with it. Thanks for taking time to ask me a question Paddy x
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR QUESTIONS.... been a real treat to talk with you all and thanks to Mike for setting it up!!! Heres to a grand season for the Saints..... enjoy the sunshine! Zoe along the coast a little to the East xxx

hi , I beg to differ on the matter of taste ! I too hope to see "The Saints" back where they belong . I remember watching the FA cup final when you pulled off a shock result against us . Still getting over it ! I once did a series for the Beeb which was shot in and around Soton . "The Chain" I think it was called . I brought my son to your fair city to look around the Uni but ( hock shorror ) he chose Pompey !

[quote="North End Mam"]Waterloo Road is great entertainment although the storylines can be a little far-fetched sometimes, you might agree. Are there any amusing behind-the-scenes stories or bloomers you can tell us about please?[/quote
hi , i'm glad you find the show good entertainment . thanks . yes the storylines are a bit far fetched but who would want to see teachers filling in forms and completing paperwork for an hour ?we have to use dramatic licence .lots of us forget lines from time to time and today chalky , tom and i had a terrible fit of the giggles . the more serious the scene the harder it is to keep a straight face .

Re: STAR BAR HIGHLIGHTS
Without doubt the biggest joker on WR was Denise Welch . She could be in the middle of telling a rude story but when the director called action she immediately became Steph Haydock . Quite a feat ! Mark Benton runs her a very close second though . He never fails to make me giggle . He has a naturally funny face and if I know he is looking at me and trying to make me giggle then I don't have to see him - I just start giggling . Will Ash who played Chris Mead was serious but lovely never the less . My closest friends on the show are Jason Done ( Tom ) and Denise .

Emma Bunton is a lovely girl.........but I can't help cringing when she comments on the skating in Dancing on Ice as I really can't believe she is the best person to be doing that.
I don't suppose you can comment on that, let me put it another way: Who do you think the ideal judging panel would consist of?
I think we have a great panel and very rarely do either Jason or Emma get into the technicalities of the skating, unless we have discussed something specific after the rehearsal run. They are both more than aware where their expertise is but I love that they are always interested in asking and learning more about the mechanics of skating. They are both dancers so the mechanics of how the body needs to work is not so very different.

Re: STAR BAR HIGHLIGHTS
I am actually in Southampton as I type this! I am on tour with the musical 'Grease' and it's great being back at the Mayflower. I was here 2 yrs ago for Panto (Santa Clause and the return of Jack Frost) and before that spent 4 months here in CATS in the 90's. I grew up coming to the Top Rank ice rink for competitions when I was a novice and junior and it was always a strange feeling as neither Top Rank ice rinks (Sot'n and Brighton) has barriers around them!

Hi, glad to see you on Southampton World's Star Bar!
You have performed on the ice over many years. There must be times when things have not quite gone according to plan, can you tell us about a time or two when something went wrong or you had an embarrassing moment? Thanks
More times than I care to remember! From a blade flying off my boot in the opening five minutes of my show Electric Ice at the Bristol Hippodrome to trousers ripping around the crotch seams to spectacular wipe outs in front of a few thousand people - Yep... Sh.t happens to us all!

Re: STAR BAR HIGHLIGHTS
When I was young I wanted to be Gene Kelly, his style of performing and dance have always been a huge influence in my work and he had such a great flair of looking spontaneous even though it was obviously very well rehearsed. My skating heroes were Sergei Chetverukin from what was then USSR and Donald Jackson from Canada.

Hi
It would be nice to know more about you. Can you tell us your life story in a paragraph or 2??
Life story - wow!
I was raised in a mining town with a mining family background. My dad worked from apprentice to being his dad's boss... You can imagine that a work ethic like this rubs off. From 7years old I was great with numbers and money. I once halved my Xmas Santa list after working out the cost! I asked for a paper-round that year and was told I was too young! At age 11 I had 2 on the go in the morning & 1 afternoon!
I tried everything as a kid, football, trampolining, hockey & then acting, getting into stage at around 12. I performed a few shows but stage was never for me. So I auditioned for the Nottingham Workshop. 19 places from 1500 apps & i got in.
That yr a kid who looked like me was fired from Peak Practice so i took his job. The producer didn't like me really but once they left I got some meaty stories & signed an agent
From 16 i was never at home, my mum once saw me packing a bag & asked where are you off, i simply replied Tenerife, & with that I went! I always did what I wanted, travelling to Nottingham at 13, to London at 15 then abroad at 16 & 17, sleeping on floors & doing what I needed.
My mum & dad have always supported me, let me have my wings & caught me when I've fallen - I owe them everything, but my ambition knows no bounds! If I want something, I go for it. failure is not an option. I truly believe if you work hard enough, you can do anything. Just ask my friends, Vicky McClure, Toby Kebbell, Lauren Socha (all Bafta winners or nominees) all from the workshop, all from similar backgrounds!
I gave up acting at 23 to raise my 2 girls & get a mortgage (cos actors can't have them!) I worked 12 hours a day at my dads company for 5 yrs, going to college & getting top marks in a HNC mech engineering to become a Project Manager. I started my own drama school & prod company at the same time, often working in total, 20 hours per day. The school isn't doing great but we have a major contract for 179 schools coming in September.
Me & my business partner Lee Otway are pitching new ideas to TV channels & writing for London producers as well as auditioning and self-promoting = this time next year Rodney!
My wife Laura has stood by me for 10years. we finally tied the knot in March. Well overdue! Without her continued support, I would not be able to do or achieve the things I am doing now! I took 5yrs to build us a foundation, she has dedicated her life to helping me achieve my dream! I can never repay that! She is amazing, my muse, my driver, my hardest critic & constant support!
There's not really much else! I feel like I've bored whoever has managed to read on till the end! Sorry!

My first posting in the British Army was in Marchwood Southampton I remember it well. We used to get a small boat from the port across to the town and go to some clubs (cant remember which ones though) it was in 1988!!

Please, can you tell us of a time or two that things have not gone quite right on the track, maybe an embarrassing moment of some sort?
And did you have any pre-race superstitions?
Firstly Thank you.
No really embarressing moments other than not having my spikes for a grand prix international event and then having to wear Jo Pavey's (5k/10k GB runner) straight are she did a 5K in the boiling heat with no socks on....Gross!!

Hi
During the races I was really focused on my tactics. I didnt really think about whether I would win or not I just ran and concentrated on my race plan. (Glad I won though)

From Michael Obiora.....
Thanks a lot, I really enjoyed working on Hotel Babylon. Ben was such a joy to play, and people still come up to me and tell me how much they enjoyed it. The actress who played Anna, my fellow receptionist, is called Emma Pierson. We were both in Grange Hill but our character's never crossed paths. On Hotel B we would often improv and try things out, and we found a comfortable rhythm working together. I think that's especially important with comedy because the timing is so vital.

I'm not going to inadvertently reveal anybody else's secrets or embarrassment! But I'll reveal a funny thing that affected me! My mum came to visit me on set, and she was so excited to get involved in the 'glamour'. So she came decked out in her best outfit, and she topped it off with a pair of sunglasses. In keeping with the glamour theme, she kept her shades on inside, which led to her tripping up and flying across the set - in the middle of a take! Thankfully she was fine but I think I was embarrassed than her! In fact, I know I was because in the next take she waved at the camera! Two embarrassing moments in one day! I didn't let her visit again after that!
