According to SSN a fee has been agreed with Ipswich and Austin is going to discuss terms with them. Ipswich are the only club who have made a bid of £2m (the asking price) for Austin. Blackpool bid £1.2m, same as burnley. Southampton may have missed their chance to place their bid. Advanced talks going on at Portman Rd today, to be tied up within 24 hours. Southampton was the lads initial preference as only half an hour from his family home. But he's very very keen on Ipswich after being shown around facilities today aswell as holding talks with Jewell and the board at Town. If deal falls through (very unlikely) he WILL end up at Southampton, but they may turn their interest back to Mackail-Smith anyway and make a bid for him tomorrow."

I'd be just as pleased if we signed Mackail-Smith as Austin. This would be a very good transfer window indeed.

Just think we wasted a lot of time on something which was always unlikely to happen and CMS at PBoro should have been first target before they lost their other striker. Can see us missing out here as they may not sell now unless we pay over the odds.
