Betfair spreading the rumours again:

•We reported the rumour that Benjani was on Southampton's radar, but with competition from a gaggle of Premier League clubs, it now appears that Alan Pardew is taking a close look at Luke Varney. The 27-year-old has somewhat lost his way, and is now with Derby County. However, he has not had much of a look in at Pride Park, and was loaned out to Sheffield Wednesday for much of last season.

Hopefully we will get a new number 8 and 11, whether that means a winger and a central midfielder who knows.... Dont know much of Varney, but have faith in Pardew to get it right....
