"We had a fantastic day.We were parked up at Wembley by 8-45 am.Had a great breakfast at the Ibis hotel £6-95 for all you can eat, then made our way to the Green man hotel, what a superb stop that was, coaches everywhere, music, barbecue on the go,and beer at good prices, the place was heaving with Saints fans, the garden had marquees up and was packed solid.Really great atmosphere.
Walked up to Wembley a few hours later,I must say I preferred the old stadium with the twin towers from the outside, but inside the new one beats it hands down,I thought it would be good having seen photos of it but being in it is something else. Was proud as always to be a Saints fan,the colour and atmosphere they generate is fantastic.I thought the game was OK,we did what we had to do and won it.
My best memories apart from sharing the day with my son & friends was the moment the cup was lifted and seeing on the screens the sheer joy on the players faces and Marcus grinning and taking photos like some happy grandad at christmas. It was also great to see Nicola & Alan pardew share a hug together, lets hope that puts to bed any talk of a rift between them out of the window. To sum up I still dont think you can beat seeing your team win a trophy at Wembley,I will treasure the day as much as I do 76,I watched that with my father and never forgot it,now I hope my son feels the same as time goes on about 2010.A wonderful day out."
Great to read that, thanks a lot v.i. Anyone else??

Re: DAY-OUT AT WEMBLEY: THE STORY OF YOUR DAY
Set off from Glasgow on the Saturday Morning.
Train was packed with Carlisle fans.
Got to London and done the usual.
Couple of pints when we checked into the hotel.
Met up with some family who were going to Wemberlee the next day.
Train to Wembley was packed with chants of "Red Army" as was the walk to the ground.
The sight of all that read and white will never be forgotten.
Train home was much like the train down only a lot quieter.

Re: DAY-OUT AT WEMBLEY: THE STORY OF YOUR DAY
We left around 815 from Locks Heath and went 500 yards before meeting first fellow saints on same journey! Several flags attached to truck and none lost on journey. Drive up was reasonably painless and uneventful enjoying going past plenty of the saints coaches. Had pre booked parking and arrived just after 10 to find more cars than parking spaces! Never a problem for my mate and his truck! Took a delightful walk to Brent high street through housing and over train tracks where carrier bags with syringes were around!!
Got to ground to meet my other mate who had been on one of the coaches and brother in law who had travelled down from Scotland overnight on coach for the game. He was amazed when around 10 saints fans got on his coach at Edingburgh. Great to mingle outside the ground and know we outnumbered Carlisle fans by around2.5 to a but it seemed like 20 to 1! Yes concourse inside ground is well laid out loads of places to get food though hardly cheap at £8 pie and pint and was amazed at the queues for loos. We were behind the goal to right 14 rows back so had really good view and just soaked up the atmosphere.
gave match report elsewhere and it was just nice to be 4 up with 30 minutes left. Like any saints fan from recent years to many games we have thrown away , said to mate once we get to 10 mins left and still 4 up will start to relax. When final whistle went just really a feeling of relief and satisfaction rather than manic celebrations that we were back, ghosts of last year finally laid to rest.
Didnt stay at Wembley after the game for drinks but headed back down M3 where services full of saints fans. Got back to locks Heath where we settled down for a beer and watched the game having been recorded, felt knackered. For me not as memorable as 76 as winning FA cup and beating Man U was so special but a really great day out and will never knock the JPT competition again. A tournament that is well run, early starts, no extra time, cheap entrance fees, penalty shoot outs and Saints taking 45000 + fans raised its profile. Next season could have Palace and Plymouth in the draw, of course hopefully we wont be able to defend the trophy as get promoted through the play offs!!
