Saints v Barnsley - your thoughts? Empty Saints v Barnsley - your thoughts?

Total football - NOT. No, I wasn't there, but it sounded dreadful and the signs of imminent recovery are not good. I don't want to be negative, but any optimism I had has gone out the window.

What does everyone else think?

I thought we did everything right except score. The main problem is that we are still trying to walk the ball into the net. I lost count of the number of shooting opportunities where someone carried on running and got tackled or passed it to the other team, McGoldrick and Lallana being particular culprits of this.

Davis 6 Sorry can't give higher because he didn't have anything to do
Cork 8 Solid defense good going forward. Can certainly be relied upon wherever we put him until the end of the season
Wotton 7 Very solid and strong leader
Perry 8 Also very solid got in some good tackles and a couple of pretend tackles which were good as well
Fish 7 Good debut started a bit shaky but grew in confidence as the game went on
Gillett 8 Best performance for us so far IMO ran the midfield, worked hard, got stuck in and mostly good distribution.
Surman 8 Same as Gillett would be happy for him to stay in that position
Lallana 6 Played well in some parts but wasted some good chances
McGoldrick 5 Needs to be dropped has been poor in the last few games
BWP 7 Unlucky not to score and seems to have found a brain from somewhere which made him quite dangerous.
Peckhart 6 Worked hard but first touch quite poor on many occasions.

Subs:
John 7 Looked likely to score and unlucky to win a penalty when he was pulled down in the box after great control on the chest
Thomson 6 Didn't get into the game enough. Would prefer to see him on the right

Glad mills did okay. Hope that means Surman can play in proper position.Looks like we missed Spiderman a bit.Scacel knows how to thread a ball through as well.More we play the team should start to come together and then the points will come. Blackpool defeat doesn't look so bad after today.

I would be happy to see Mills in at left back for the rest of the season and then until someone comes in for him. He definately has a lot of ability

Team I would pick next Sat:

Davis
Cork Wotton Perry Mills
Gillett Spider
Lallana Surman Skacel
Peckhart/John

I could go with that. Wonder if Pulis will be any help when fit.
