Can Saints bounce back on Tuesday or is the run of home wins in danger of coming to an end?

Well 3 points, good comeback after being a goal down but not one of our best performances. Schneiderlin strated wide right with harding in for Foxe who sounds like has slight injurty so rested for game, not on bench.

Saints had decent start with Schneiderlin having an early shot on goal hit with power and although slight fumble by their goalie came to nothing. Saints then seemed to run out of ideas. Hull played very high up the pitch so you had the crazy position with all 20 out players in about 10 yards either side of half way line. Saints had little width, schneiderlin played wide right in place of Chaplow but simply never got forward quick enough to make any impact. Lallana had a shot blocked but he does seem to take forever before he shoots.

Referee was again poor, and found out afterwards he was last ref to ref us losing at st Marys, seemed to know it and wanted to do again. davis was booked when he came out for a challenge which he won, was obvious based on direction of ball. Guly had a chance with a header but placed well wide, really should have got on target. Then just couple of minutes before half time really from nothing Hull scored, a cross shot from left hand side was stopped by davis but rebound went to Koren who had looked offside originally who headed in rebound. Main culprit for goal was Schneiderlin who simply did not bother tracking back and give Harding any support and when he did saunter back didnt seem bothered in making a tackle. saints had a free kick when cork hacked down which came back off wall then chipped cross from Lambert gave Guly again a great chnace but he headed wide.

Second half saints brought on De Ridder for Cork with Schneiderlin going into centre of midfield, tough on Cork. saints looked lively and were level inside 3 minutes. Great run by Ricahrdson from right side all the way across pitch, then found Lallana out wide left he crossed to lambert who knocked back for Guly, first attempt was saved by goalie but he made no mistake with rebound, kept ball down well and blasted in to net in front of Northam end. Saints now were playing with some passion and pace and certainly de ridder was making a difference. About 5 minutes later saints were in front, link up play down the right saw good hold up work by Lambert, Richardson got to the by line and hit an inviting cross into the 6 yard box and Lallana drifted in to glance a header in.

saints then took their foot off the gas and Hull began to get far more possession and playeds lots of neat passes though not many clear cut chances. Lambert came off and replaced by Barnard who had a shot from outside box comfortably saved but at least he had a go. With 10 minutes left for third game in a row at St Marys opposition had a player sent off. Harding was wide on touchline and near half way line when Hull player came in and lunged at him, whether he played the ball academic as follow through took Harding out and could have broken his leg, instant red from ref and can be no complaints, sort of tackle that shouldnt be allowed and daft as harding was going nowhere. Despite down to 10 men Hull managed to keep possession well, Guly went off with 5 minutes left to be replaced by Holmes and Lallana looked completely knackered. saints played out the 4 minutes of extra time with no major concerns one long ball knocked into box found its way all the way through to Kelvin but no pace and a comfortable gather.

On to doncaster and will need to step up a gear. some players in first half didnt seem to have the passion which is strange when top of the league, better second half performance and key was 3 points. showed how we miss Chaplow and if we had another fit striker at least could play Guly there but Barnard looks some way off match fitness.

davis 7 no blame with goal and looked solid
Harding 7 did well second half though does gives his player a lot of room
Hoovield 6 poor first half constantly keeping Hull onsdie when otheres playing up, better second half
Fonte 7 beginning to look strong again
Richardson 8 Great going forward and played key role in both goals
Schneiderlin 6 hopeless out wide right, better second half in the middle
Hammond 6 average game
Lallana 6 got the goal but still looks short of fitness and always seems to want to be to clever
Lambert 6 difficult game as poor service first half
Guly 7 got the all important first goal and did work hard

subs
De Reidder 7 did make an impact though another one who likes to be to clever at times, simple cross into box would be better
barnard 6 needs the games but another 20 minutes on the pitch

Definitely Richardson for me, saw goals on Sky and shame for first one doesnt show Richardson brigning the ball across from right hand touchline to left side of box before passing to lallana where cameras pick up.
