We would need another striker if we go up or even if we dont. Connolly unlikely to feature much next season and not impressed this season, Barnard unfortunate with the injury but when he has come as sub hasnt looked threatening and Guly is not a striker. That leaves us with 3, lambert, lee and sharp, you need 4 strikers so we will definitely sign someone and I quite like Rodiguez.

For me between Hooper and Rodriguez but definitely looks like trying to sign one. I think Rodriguez although unproven looks a decent prospect for the future and could play alongside Rickie or Billy so does start to give some genuine options up front.

IF this goes through, then the price seems somewhat high but certainly shows the club's intent! Just hope it means they are willing to go to, say, 20 mill to strengthen the team............as other areas of the team are in more desperate need of strengthening.

Don't want them saying in a few days that most of transfer funds have been used up on Rodriguez.

Rodriguez and maybe Yakubu, as he's been linked? Rodriguez would be a good signing, although £7 million seems pretty steep.


It would also mean that Rory Decrap is no longer our record signing. Thank f*ck. ;-)

Just a little worried that appearing to pay over the odds may give other clubs the impression that Saints have money to burn........and they will be pushing up the asking price when Saints enquire about their players.

problem is think that 6 - 7 m is the going price for strikers with potential and young. Bear in mind he scored 20+ last season and with other clubs such as Everton and W Spam sniffing around it is about what the market sets. Would have preferred a price around 5m but lets see if he signs, if he stalls over terms then pull the deal and move on.

Well should know in next couple of days, if Rodrigues hasnt signed by then sure Cortese will pull the plug and go elsewhere. Cannot afford to be messed around like last summer and dont need someone who cannot commit.

Deal is nearly done according to Vman on the saints web forum.He has been reliable so far,medical at the Nuffield,Chandlers ford today according to some. I would be well chuffed if this is right and all comes off.

Done and dusted. £7 million or thereabouts, new record signing.
