Should be a good game and hoping we really get at them and put under pressure and don't sit back. They may have won their last couple of games but don't think Spurs have been that convincing and can see them ending up 5th or 6th and no CL. A win would be sweet for us but as always goals will be the key for for us. I suspect Fonte may well start unless they have accepted bid but think only Everton will make a firm bid and then try on the cheap.

I am going for another draw, just on basis we are still struggling in front of goal but a win would be sweet

Oh dear, another sound beating. As soon as we scored the early goal I just knew we'd never win it......

Redmond out now so not too many options up front. Sims not even on the bench, am I missing something? Is he injured or out of favour for some reason??

Disappointing result and disappointing performance. First 15 minutes were great, for once we pressed and Spuds couldn't cope, made mistakes, Wanayma kept giving the ball away and we were on top. Then we reverted to type under Puel, dropped off deeper and deeper and invited them to pass the ball around maintain possession and play their own game. It shows we can play the pressing game, our short passing carved out some opportunities but this squad are not fit enough, plus some the front 3 have to be prepared to work their socks off. JRod tried, Redmond did at times though not often and Boufal simply couldn't be bothered. To be honest I would have taken Boufal off at half time, save him having a strop in front of the cameras, he is just lazy and unless we play him as part of a front 2 or a lone striker we will struggle as he is not prepared to put in the work which is required in the Premier league, the Black Box has messed up big time I think as while he has the ability his attitude is awful, and that is hard to change.

As you say Mike a great start free kick on the left good delivery and Virgil with a great header, then we wept at them and Redmond nearly got a second when good play by Davis and Cedric on right saw chance for Redmond but his shot went wide of the far post. Boufal got into a couple of good positions but always delayed his cross enabling others to get back. JRod got clattered in the face by Vertonghenm but Dean who I really have always harted missed as did his lineo, now Dean that actually was a red card but you wouldn't give those against a top 6 side just everyone else. Then for what ever reason just went all defensive, gave them all the room in the middle of the park and we hardly got out under constant pressure so no surprise with their goal but an element of luck as cross was deflected in the air, that should have allowed Forster the time to come and collect but like a statue stayed routed to the spot and allowed the header to go unchallenged and went in off the woodwork. Rets of the half we struggled and I was glad for half time, expecting anyone on for Boufal, preferably Long but no hope with Puel. Lethargic start to second half their second goal came following poor defending by Bertrand allowed their player into the box Forster could have come and claimed but didn't so Fonte charged in to give a corner. From that a simple cross and Kane unmarked headed home, Virgil had the back posts so Fonte should have had covered but he was poor for most of the night.

Even though we weren't playing well we could have equalised, a free kick out on the right whipped in by Ward Prowse and Fonte had a great chance but put over, he hasn't looked like scoring all season and really now time he is dropped and Yoshida given a prolonged run in the side. Then came the penalty, Ali is far to clever and while initial contact outside the box waits until inside and goes down, rules were changed that last man aspect doesn't count in a penalty yet Dean, theatrically sends off Redmond, actually the 3 games rest out of the team will do him good but Saints should appeal on principle, the refs have given us a hard time as we never argue, get in their face or make an issue and as a result we get stuffed. Dean miraculously misses the Vertonghen arm in face on JRod yet a few yards away and gives a dubious penalty but compounds by sending off the player. Incompetent or biased, or simply both?

Justice done when Kane missed the penalty but 10 men and already behind would be a struggle but we did have chances. Best one to Hojberg who following a messed up clearance by Lloris had a great chance to fire straight back in but a really weak effort. Tadic also picked up a ball from a loose clearance but failed to shoot. At least Hojberg is 21 and still learning, no excuse for Tadic. A couple more decent free kicks that caused problems but were always going to be hit on the break and two similar goals player on left side free and shot across Forster into far side, Forster was like a statue on both didn't even attempt to get his kit dirty.

Tactically I think Puel will be a liability for us, we might scrape 10th this season but will be a relegations struggle if he stays next season. His lack of any tactical nous for the premier league is obvious, he wont change from 433, even down to 10 he still kept 3 up front, is not interested in the fitness physical side, just goes on about the "technical" aspects and has destroyed the team spirit. Virgil was hacked off at Font most of the game and will be gone in the summer, Boufal doesn't care about anyone but himself and there is no leadership on the pitch and the coaching staff seem pretty poor all round.

Forster 5, like a statue, never came off his line, kicking worse than a schoolboy, should be dropped and McCarthy given a try
Cedric 6 a few errors on the night but got forward well in first half
Fonte 5 time to go, his head is elsewhere and we have his agent to thank for that and he has grown an ego he never had before
Virgil 7 did his best defending and at least scored, another £5m on his price tag Reed
Bertrand 6 was okay first half but cannot work with Boufal as he has to stay back.
Romeau 7 Motm for me, another tireless display and proved better than Wanyama
Davies 7 worked hard in first half, stunned when he was taken off as was our link man between middle and front
JWP 6 struggled in the middle but some excellent free kicks, worth being in the side for them as we don't create anything else
Redmond 6 decent first half but so lightweight, that's why you know Ali dived.
JRod 6 worked harder than any of the front 3 but no real goal threat.
Boufal 4, if Puel is not able to get him to work then get rid of both of them, needs to play behind striker to maximise the skills he has.

Subs

Tadic 5 lightweight adds little and wont see much of him until the sum shines and weather gets warmer
Hojberg 5 at least young, first 3 touches gave the ball away and missed a great opportunity but kept at it.
Long 5 he so needs game time.

No Sims or McQueen, don't think injured but think Puel blames them whenever we lose. To not be in the squad makes you wonder why.

Thanks Matty, much appreciated although depressing reading.

With Puel's belief in rotation I imagine we will see something of Sims and McQueen in the next 2 games, if not then would seem very strange.
