OK, how can Saints bounce back and get a win on Sunday? A similar performance to last night would be embarrassing.... and would surely have Koeman laughing all the way home

Well I suspect a better performance as we will start Fonte, Cedric, Romeau, Davies, Austin. See Koeman thinks he should get respect but reality is he left for the money. I won't boo him but I certainly won't be clapping him either.

Hard to predict, last season they bullied us out of the game, lukaku always a threat but a chance for Virgil to get back to his best, some shots on target should see goal with Stek in goal.

Who knows but will sit in the fence and a 1-1 draw.

The Well a much better performance and an important win and 3 points. The inclusion of Josh Simms brought a new energy to the team, Cedric at RB brought a defensive solidity plus attacking options. At last we made the perfect start, first Simms had a shot blocked with ball going out wide to Cedric to cross, what made a nice change was we had 4 players waiting the box, Simms hooked the loose ball to far post and Austin about 2 yards out headed in, Everton player on near post keeping onside.

Simms had a great chance to score following a cross from left but his header lacked power,  but great he was In The box again. Hojberg had a couple of long range efforts but unable to keep down. Austin had a shot but far to weakEverton were not that impressive  but a couple of times gifted chances, Hojberg hit a couple of misplaced passes as did Redmond one chance when Bertrand lost the ball and cut back blasted high and wide then Barkley headed wide.

Second half Hojberg had a great chance at hear post having done the difficult bit beating his player in the box he tried to beat him at near post and went into side netting. Then Austin had a header from a Cedric cross well saved by Stekenberg, Bolasie had an overhead kick but clearly fouled Cedric in the build up. Sims then went on a great run beating a couple of players but his final pass to Austin was cut out, shame he could have gone for goal. Ward Prowse chested down a cross and shot saved from stekenberg then cleared off line then missed a pull back placing wide.

Bit of pressure at end as Everton threw on more forwards but saints held out. Puel made odd subs  taking off redo day and Simms, that wasn't odd but brought on McQueen and Classie which while tightening midfield left just Austin who was knackered upfield inviting pressure. With a couple of minutes left brought on Long but should have brought on earlier..

Thought ref had a decent game, only card for Williams arguing over time for subs, despite me having a bet on Barry and romeau getting booked. Still a long way to go, hopefully everyone will not go overboard about Simms, great debut but others such as Redmond need to up their game.

Forster 7 despite reluctance to come of line was fairly solid but not that much to do.
Cedric 8 another outstanding game great tackles and crosses
Fonte 6  a few misplaced passes but others no nonsense clearances.
VVD 7 impressive at back, one dodgy tackle in penalty box couple of great bursts forward
Bertrand 7  looked good going forward solid in the tackle, made a couple of misplaced passes
Romeau 7 another great game in the middle
Hojberg 7, so easy really great stuff going forward, a Cple of stray passes otherwise an 8
Ward Prowse 7 much better than midweek had 2 great chances to score, one saved one a poor connection
Redmond 5  Needs to be taken out of the firing line, lacking in confidence, gave the ball away to often
Austin 7 got the goal and a good header well saved, another shot to weak
Simms 9 bearing in mind his debut deserve motm, hand in goal and involved in much of our good work brought energy and mobility to side.

Subs
Classie 6
McQueen 6
Long not on long enough

Thanks for the report Matty.  A vital 3 points and one in the eye for Koeman.
