Think our best hope is their goalie makes a mess, which is not unrealistic. We will have Fonte back so should be 5 at the back, Wanyama I think is also available so decent addition to bench. So if we play well I can see a closer game than our last meeting

Fantastic result......and it has to be just about the only day Sky do not do their Game Choice....so looks like I will have to content myself with MOTD.

I gather Hodgson was at the match.....did Forster and Bertrand have good games? Did Targett or Ward-Prowse get chance to perform? Think I heard Harte was injured today so that should improve Fraser's chance of a call-up. Pity for Austin that he couldn't have been involved.

Hope you watched sky Mike as first game on! Bertrand played well Forster could have got down earlier for first goal but made a good block at 2 down. Not sure why Martina picked ahead of Cedric again nor why we didn't play Targett and 5 at back. Tadic started and was poor gave the ball away far to easily.
Fairly even start but saints should have had clear penalty when Long got past Lovren easily, cut inside to get on right foot and Lovren with arm on his shoulder brought him down, won't see a clearer penalty not given. Pelle and martins then gave the ball away in midfield and courtino scores with shot from 25 yards with Forster slow to get down. Got worse when Tadic down by their corner flag gives the ball away, Martina out of position allows a breakaway and Sturridge has time to pick his spot. Could have been worse when Allen was through, again after we gave the ball away in midfield, but Forster saved well. Also a goal ruled out for offside which was correct but thanks to Lino not the ref.
Second half saw Wanyama on for classie and mane for Tadic. Pelle had shirt pulled and penalty given, less convincing to first one as bit of both, not sure why Mane took the kick but lacked power and easy height for goalie. Saints though had momentum and pulled one back, good ball from Pelle, Mane took through and on his left foot from a tight angle hit a great shot into far corner. Davis then lost the ball which left Benteke with a chance to restore 2 goal lead but fortunately dragged his shot wide. Saints then went back to pressing Liverpool who were panicking, , Palle won a header, long managed to play the ball back and Pelle controlled moved to his left foot for a great shot past mignolet. I would have been happy with a draw but the icing on the cake (my birthday cake, plus Koemans birthday tomorrow) pressure lead to them passing back, poor clearance by goalie, Pelle then importantly got back onside. Ward prowess then hassled 2 Liverpool players fed Pelle who slid ball into box and Mane again finished into far corner.
Great result but some lessons to learn, Tadic should not start, play 5 at the back, Cedric over Martina any day and Pelle no more flicks play as an old fashioned centre forward

Forster 6
Martina 5 gets out of position far to often
Fonte 6 decent blocks but missed some tackles
Virgil 6
Bertrand 7
Davis 5 gave the ball away to often
Romeau 6 battled hard
Classie 5 slightly off the pace
Tadic 4 gives the ball away to easily
Long 6
Pelle 7 would have been 4 on first half, second half much better
Subs
Mane 8 goals win games so has to be an 8
Wanyama 8 had a great game bossed the midfield no fouls
Ward prowess 6 won the ball for the winner
