Englands performance and Hodgson
well 2 defeats and out before even final game in the group and heading for home. Cant say I am overly disappointed, think Hodeson has been a disappointment over last month. was brave enough to pick players from saints then allowed the illegal tapping up to go on which clearly impacted Lallana's performances though he still should have started. like others before him made one of the old guard his "man" and repaid with awful performances by Gerrard and Rooney.
Tactically Hodgson looked naive. we effectively played 4 2 4 (Sturridge, welbeck, Sterling and Rooney) would always mean the midfield would get over run and having a 34 year old that was never going to work. on top of that he took Johnson at RB so never thought this side could manage to keep a clean sheet and so it proved. He didn't have the bottle to drop Rooney, which based on from he should have which would have allowed him to play Lallana drop Welbeck another player who on form simply shouldn't have been there and boosted the midfield with a more defensive player, possibly Wilshire or even Milner. As an individual I don't rate Milner that much but as we showed last season its about how the 11 individuals perform as a team, something England managers never seem to realise as may mean dropping some of the top names who just don't fit in with that work ethic and that they are not who the team revolve around.
Another good example is Baines is well renowned for his set piece deliveries yet any free kick around the box went to Shrek who wasted.
