Re: CAN SAINTS SINK SWANS AT ST MARYS??
impossible to predict other than if we dont win adkins will probably be sacked!
I keep thinking we will turn it around but depends on his team selection. Should have Cork back though expect he will start on bench and doubt he will change much from Mondays team.
need a bit of luck as well and want to see some shots from distance for a change.

Saint Mike prediction......0-0
If you can remember what that is, its sooooo long since we've had it.

Re: CAN SAINTS SINK SWANS AT ST MARYS??
I wonder whether Adkins' future at Saints comes down to a game-by-game basis, or whether it's a case of see how November goes and act at the end of the month if things don't improve? I can't help feeling that, should we lose again today, he's gone. Obviously I'd rather have the three points and Adkins remain in charge than lose just to see him sacked.
Once the team is more settled and Adkins stops changing it round because of injuries (which can't be helped, of course) or because he panics, then things should hopefully improve. *crosses fingers*

Re: CAN SAINTS SINK SWANS AT ST MARYS??
Same old same old.
Decent performance, on top for most of game, individual errors lead to goal being conceded and substituitons, or lack of, which baffle me.
team selection showed some recognition that far to open for the WBA game and Rodrigues made way, puncheon brought in on right side, shaw for Fox at LB and no surprise that Cork started.
bright fairly entertaining game, saints moved the ball well Lambert was pretty static Ramerez had a couple of shots one just wide, one saved and a couple of corners. Lallana went close with a shot but at times was awful in covering. Swansea tried to target Shaw on several occaisons and was often out numbered and afraid Lallana didnt give him much cover. On one occassion on left side of player and tried to tackle with right leg, simply brushed aside. Neat free kick from Ramerez found Fonte at far post but his knock back just missed everyone though really think he should have gone for goal.
Gazzinger had to make a decent saved to his left by his near post and Swansea had a couple of corners which caused some issues, Gazzinger flapped at one of them. thought we could have had a penalty or at least a free kick when Cline knocked the ball through the legs of a defender who then simply blocked him off. So frustrating as a free kick anywhere else on the pitch. Again the referee, Mariner didnt give us anything. Knew we would have problems when he embraced the female swansea official while training before the game, hardly professional.
second half saints took the game to swansea with lambert being more influential thought we had a penalty when running onto a flick from Lambert looked like Lallana was bundled over but nothing given and was booked for a dive which looked like a joke. Swansea created a decent chance for Routledge but he blasted over. Saints finally got the goal they deserved when Schneiderling for once inside the box chested the ball then headed in for what really should have been saints on a way to a win.
Having got in front saints then hit the self destruct button, ball was passed to gazzinger and he should have just launched but decided to play short pass to Yoshida, he miscontrolled to allow dyer clear run on goal and score off the post. Gazzinger at fault for not clearing and Yoshida at fault for not dealing with.
Fox then came on for shaw who had a decent game and suspect was tiring. what frustrated me was no other subs. A game we need to win at home and you would think with 10 minutes left we would try Mayuka for Puncheon or rodrigues. Simply cannot fathom out Adkins at times. Saints had plenty of pressure towards the end but couldnt get the goal. Lallana was again blocked on edge of box, no free kick yet if a dive he should have been of, Mariner was poor on all the big decisions and allowed swansea players to waste time. Classic case saints had a corner, and their player stays on the ground in the box. Stopped the game and momentum, stayed down for at least a minute then of coure when he came back on fit as a fiddle.
Crowd stayed with adkins and some sympathy for individual error but why do we always have to pass out from the back? Who makes them play that way?
Gazzinger 6 decent game but put his Yoshida under needless pressure for the goal plus a couple of other occassions
Shaw 7 had a good debut, caught ball watching a few times but showed real promise
Yoshida 6 had a decent game with a few key tackles but yet another dumb error
Fonte 6 looked back to shaky ways first half better second
Cline 7 got forward a bit and a better game
Schneiderlin 7 poor first half made up for it with his goal
Cork 7 definitely good to have his energy back
Puncheon 6 went missing for large parts of the game, when in the game was decent threat from the right but final ball iffy
Lallana 7 poor first half, no tackles and left shaw exposed, better second and should have had a penalty
Ramerez 6 does look class and unlucky first half, gave the ball away though few times in second half.
Lambert 6 didnt seem interested first half and in all hoensty probably could have been subbed but Adkins to scared to now
Subs
fox 6 did okay when he came on and a couple of decent deliveries, shame the only sub used.

Thanks Matty, nice report.
What's your take on the Adkins situation now ? Is he gonna stay or will the Swansea goal be the end for him ?

Re: CAN SAINTS SINK SWANS AT ST MARYS??
Hard to say Pete, certainly the fans at the ground were behind him and the most of the players, about Lambert based on last couple of games.
Continuity is important but tactically and his substitutions are questionable. I have no doubt that now Cortese will have a plan B. I think a defeae at QPR will see him sacked. While any new manager will have to work with the same players that doesnt mean they cannot be improved or organised better. Always about the balance of the team for me as opposed individuals. Yesterday was better than at WBA where team selection for me was suicidal.
Problem is game by game increases the tension which will inevitably transmit to the players. He probably needs 4 decent results on the trot to give him the breathing space and that doesnt seem like happening.

I hope that is the last we see of Guly, unless circumstances (injuries/suspensions/fire/flood/pestilence) dictate otherwise.

Re: CAN SAINTS SINK SWANS AT ST MARYS??
Thought he might have made the bench but Ward Proswe chosen instead, other 6 were fairly predictable on grounds 2 defenders, 2 midfield and 2 attackers.
With Cork fit less chance for Guly now though it is still right side of midfield the problem causing problems. Last season was Guly, Puncheon, De Ridder or Chaplow. Think that shows we failed to improve that position though away from home I would go Chaplow with aim to strengthen midfield. Wonder whether davis could play that role when away from home.
Another position that needs to be improved in january and a couple shipped out
