From Wiki:
Brian Richard William Howard (born 23 January 1983) is an English footballer who plays for Reading in the Football League Championship as a midfielder. He is also a former England U20 international. Howard is set to join boyhood former club southampton on loan after talks, with a view to signing a long term deal with the saints in the summer, providing they gain promotion to the championship.

I would like to see Cortese do something and add to the squad for last few games. Howard would be a much better bet even if on the bench compared to Gobern. That would also add to the competition and while we can play Richardson or Dickson in midfield both are defenders. Similarly Forte and Nguessen are wide players not what we want in the middle of the park and with Schniederlin injured we have no cover, Chaplow, Hammond and Lallana are it in terms of proper midfield players, though Guly is an option but wouldnt be my first choice.

Also better hope Lambert and Barnie stay fit as we have no real cover, Guly who isnt really a striker and think Connolly has either missed the bus or got on the wrong bus as haven't seen him for months!

Got a feeling this won't work out.....

Why do I have this feeling Saints are being extremely cautious about spending more cash?? not sure

Spot on Saint Mike. I am convinced club is in thros of being sold as we hardly spent any money in Transfer window, think the talk about Austin was just that with a low bid which knew would be rejected and outbid and seem so reluctant to bring in any additional faces.

Could be wrong but for a club which says how "big" we are not big spenders and all the plans for the training ground are in fact still only plans no actual contracts let as far as I am aware. Plus the main sponsorship deal wasnt quite the top name fans were expecting.

Would still take where we are today compared to where we were a couple of years ago, just think the Liebherr family dont see us as a long term commitment or fitting with the rest of their businesses which is understandable.

I imagine the summer may give us some answers.

If we are promoted we will surely be looking to buy for a push for the Premiership.
If we are still in League 1 we will surely lose many of the current squad and the calibre of the replacements should tell us a lot.
Also, if we fail to go up, whether Adkins keeps or loses his job should provide a clue as to how the land lies.

Still remain confident we will make it this season but a little more investment in January would have helped.

Also whatever happens I would keep Adkins, he frustrates me at times when he tries to over think/analyse the game but I am a picky fan! He has inherited someone elses team, not a lot of money to play with and has us in the mix, think its 7 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss in last 10 league games. We know better than most what happens when you keep changing managers, just have to be patient. Bet Mandaric feels a bit sick when he sees Holloway on TV every week!
