GUILHERME DO PRADO
On the Echo website this morning....
Saints are reportedly on the verge of signing Brazilian midfielder Guilherme do Prado from newly-promoted Italian Serie A side Cesena.
According to reports, Saints have agreed a fee of around €1m for the 28 year-old right-footed attacking midfielder.
Italian top-flight duo Roma and Chievo and second tier side Torino have all been linked with the player this summer.
Do Prado didn't play in Cesena's final pre-season friendly against Brescia on Saturday and was apparently at St Mary's instead to watch Saints' 1-1 draw against Leyton Orient.
Do Prado, who counts Perugia and Fiorentina among his previous clubs, joined Cesena last summer.
He played 34 times and scored nine times as they secured promotion to the top-flight.

On Wikipedia.....
Guilherme do Prado Raymundo (born 31 December 1981) is a Brazilian footballer. He currently plays for Cesena in the Italian Serie A. A move to English third Division and title favourites Southampton FC is set to be announced shortly after Cesena agreed a fee with the saints. Guilherme has already agreed personal terms with the South coast club from England. A press Conference is set to be called at St Marys, the home of Southampton FC in the next two to three working days subject to red tape restrictions and a work permit for the midfilder.
Football career
Do Prado started his career at Portuguesa Santista. He was later signed by Serie B club Catania on August 2002, making his debut on 31 August 2002 in a game against Siena. He was later signed by Perugia (at that time belonging to Luciano Gaucci, who was also the majority shareholder of Catania), where he had the chance to make his debut in the Italian top flight.
In 2005, following the cancellation of Perugia from Italian football, he found himself without a club, being then signed by Fiorentina. However, due to a career-threatening injury, he never played a single match for the viola, and was subsequently loaned out twice, to Serie B clubs Spezia (from January to December 2007) and Mantova (from January to June 2008).
On July 2008, Do Prado agreed to leave Fiorentina by mutual consent. On September 2008 he initially agreed a contract with Messina in the Serie D, but later renounced to join the Sicilian side and instead accepted an offer from Pro Patria of Lega Pro Prima Divisione. On the 2009 summer window he then joined newly-promoted Serie B outfit Cesena.
Southampton FC agreed a fee with Cesena for Do Prado, of around $1 million euros and has had a medical. He was left out of the Cesena squad for their match and travelled to Southampton to watch their match against Leyton Orient.

Re: GUILHERME DO PRADO
If he has come from Serie A and, as has been reported, was chased by the likes of Roma then he's not crap. Hopefully he can bring what Papa Waigo and Antonio brought last season, and more.

Re: GUILHERME DO PRADO
Haven't heard of him but from the description and the youtube video of him that I've seen he looks exactly like the leggy, athletic central midfielder with a bit of ability that we've been looking for. Very excited about this signing.
