Are high appearance fees influencing team selection?

A post on SW suggests that some more experienced players are not in the team because the club can't afford the high appearance fee written into their contracts. Maybe that's why Skacel is still out in the cold....

If thats the case i think we should release him as its not good for either party

Can you think of anyone other than Rudi who could be affected? Euell is injured?

I agre Mike. If we are not going to play him let him go. Pay him off and forget him. Personally with the way we are going I feel that that is crazy. The man has skill and if Jan can motivate him surely we need him. Just like the last couple of seasons we are short at the back. As for him he must want to play because he could advertise his prowess. Watching the goals on saints tv I cringed every time I watched. All 3 goals could and should have been stopped. Bad defending is bad defending whoever it is. We need help and Scacel could do just that.

Question could be is Jan being allowed to manage?

SAINTS have hit back at suggestions Rudi Skacel has been left out of the side because the club doesn’t want to pay him a win bonus.
The rumour was heard on a Radio Hampshire phone-in show earlier this week.
However, Saints said there are no contractual issues preventing Skacel, who has yet to play a senior game under Jan Poortvliet, being selected.
A club spokesman said: “Rudi Skacel is available for selection for the first team, as he has been since his return from Germany, where Hertha Berlin chose not to exercise their option that formed part of the loan agreement.
“As many will be aware, a number of clubs expressed an interest in him during the close season transfer window, but he was unable to agree personal terms."

If he is being paid more than the others why can't he get a game?
